As a player? When the DM is playing the enemies smart and tough and we're barely winning - if we win. As a DM? When I feel like I've challenged the players with a tense, tough situation. With interesting terrain and/or things going on.

Scrying works across planes. See this portion of the spell description. Emphasis added. By implication, it can be any plane. Greater scrying lasts 1 hour/level, allowing you to try to find multiple people who took something, or watch them at length after you find them.

I've been to that copper mine. It's called Newgate Prison. It's a pretty neat tour if you're in the area. The prisoners were not left to die, but they were basically just brought down this mine shaft into this excavated area and left to their own devices. They were given food and water though.

Rather than tackle armor, why not give a bonus to stunts, swashbuckling moves and "cool movie scene actions" when someone is in light or no armor? Or better yet - more actions for less armor....

Agreed on that. I particularly like the phrenic scourges attack because it's slower (more terrifying really) and it's not a save-or-die equivalent.
