    Which feats are "taxes"?

In my experience, both when I play and when I dm, people are missing by a margin of 5 or greater. I think I have only had one player keep missing by a point or two. Now this is anecdotal but from my experience at the table the expertise feats are not make or break feats but the defense feats...

    [Setting Idea] Gothic twist

What if you did something along the lines of having humans making areas of permanent sunlight (wither through magic or divine intervention). Such areas would kill creatures such as vampires and you can say that lycan revert to their human/weaker form when entering such an area. These regions...

Sexism in D&D and on ENWorld (now with SOLUTIONS!)

Our language definitely does contain a bias; just look at the gender specific derogatory words we use. The female ones tend to be harsher ones than the ones for men (I will confess I actually can't think of any male specific ones at all at the moment but for women, "whore" is the only one I...

Mearls talks about his inspiration for the 4e classes

Just adding my own two cents here. I think Vance is obscure to both the casual and to the new players. I hadn't even heard the term vancian magic until OotS mentioned it, at which point I also learned of Vance. That was after several years of playing DnD. I have friends whom have played longer...

Mary Sue- Not sure I understand

So I have seen this term used a lot around here and try as I might I can't get a good definition of it. One one hand it sounds like a dm npc (but for literature) but on the other hand a good deal of the time I see it used I could just as easily say protagonist or big bad. The things people rail...

Stargate- was there ever a RPG?

Now I only recently heard about it, but there was apparently a d6 game for the setting being developed but the license for it was pulled last minute. A friend of mine mentioned it in passing and said something about various unofficial copies of it online. Edit- Found a link for it...

Does the "would you allow this paladin" thread still exist?

Yes that one. Thanks so much!

Does the "would you allow this paladin" thread still exist?

As the title says. Does it still exist or has it long vanished? I usually like to pull out the thread to show players and dms alike, albiet for different reasons, and thought I had save it but I can no longer find it. Any hel phere would be appreciated.

Flavor Mish-mash and favored classes (what 4e got wrong)

While I agree that it would be nice for the tiefling to make a batter infernal lock, Arcane Power does mention them as tending to be locks of other types instead though the reason is more of a cultural/psycological than a lack of predisposed physical ability. "The tiefliing is the prototypical...

What Class are you? Fun tool from WOTC promoting PHB II

Bard. Makes sense as I was raised learning the arts and am a big fan of storytelling. <p align="center"><img src="http://www.wizards.com/dnd/class/images/banners/Bard.jpg"/><br/><a href="http://www.wizards.com/dnd/" target="_blank">D&D Home Page</a> - <a...

    On the matter of half-orcs

Why was it always rape? You know i never really thought much about the rape aspect. I always thought of orcs as "barbarians" and as such there being a certain amount of interaction between orc tribes and human tribes. Besides there are reasons for coupling between the two races. For example...

DND 4E Is different! (Why is that bad?)

These numbers don't mean as much as you think they do. 1.) Enworld is a select audience and does not accurately represent the gaming community as a whole, 2.) There are plwnty of people like me who will download 3.5 alt system stuff but still enjoy 4 ed. Counting the number of downloads only...

    Gorgons in D&D

Does anyone know where the D&D concept of the gorgon came from? Is there some story or myth that it was based on? Until I started playing I had only every heard of gorgons like Medusa.

How did I not see a beholder?

Wow, I missed it. My vision effectively tunneled so I just focused on those wearing white and all movement from the players wearing black was ignored. Had the costume been white or had you asked to watch those wearing black I think I would have noticed the women in the costume.

Forked Thread: Name exactly what 4E is "missing"

Actually that is clear, thanks. I don't mind having to make things up, sorry if it cam acrosss like that, I just prefer having some there to base it off of (and i have learnded the hard way how easy it is for imblance to happen if I or one of my players creates something new).

Forked Thread: Name exactly what 4E is "missing"

Sorry about that, as Mustrum put they have a combat focus, and I was mentally merging damage and combat focus. Your right there are spells that don't do "damage". See that is part of the problem. With my players there was no real need to choose between the two. They were able to use whatever...

Forked Thread: Name exactly what 4E is "missing"

What is 4th ed. missing? As mentioned before, spells that don't do damage. (Rituals don't count for this.) Monster entries that talk about the culture/behavior of the monsters. ( I am a world builder so I always enjoyed this immensely as it gave me ideas.) Attacks that make sense. Now I like the...

The fate of the Advanced Player's Guide

Buy a prepaid card. I believe they are selling them at places like Walgreens now. If you don't have a place to "buy" them then try a bank there are some that give them out.
