    Answer #1 - it is virtually impossible to boost melee enough to put them on par with casters, so fire away. Answer #2 - as long as you ban Greater Mighty Wallop, it should be fine. Answer #3 - just take Travel Devotion and any character can be a Dervish without actually taking a level of it.

    That's how we play it. Unless the punchee had said something like "I'm keeping my eyes open for trouble." In that case, I would roll init when the puncher made his fist. Maybe the punchee was so ready, he could beat the puncher to the punch, so to speak.

    You can also offer environmental advantages that the cohorts can use. For instance, a large, heavy barrel in the middle of a battle can be used by someone as partial cover - why not one of the cohorts?

    I think a common wrecking ball applies 10 to 20,000 lbs of force. Maybe you are thinking of the average war hulk? I think the average man would have his ribs curshed through his vital organs.
