A wild idea for killing a campaign boss

If fire breath does X damage, the furnace (or other source, depending on energy type) must do, what, 20X? One burp and you're toast.

How much damage would these futuristic weapons deal if converted to D and D?

D20 Modern Apocalypse applies a "Devastation Area" and something lesser (forget the name) that extends from that. In the Devastation Area, everything dies unless protected in some kind of bunker.

Bite attack and Flurry of blows?

Now, if only they could hit... you need to make a party of a hydra monk and an optimized inspire courage bard. And twelve kazoos.

Feat to Take 10 on Ride Under Duress?

Note that you can possibly get around that last bit ("Special") by taking some ranks in knowledge (local) for one of those regions. Saddleback ( Player's Guide to Faerûn, p. 43) [Regional] You've spent endless hours learning how to handle a mount in a fi ght. Prerequisite: Human (Cormyr...

D&D 3.x D&D 3.5 - Are full casters overpowered when compared to melee characters?

Well, I agree with that, but I would still vote "yes." Here's why - if the DM has to go out of their way to create balance by intentionally making encounters challenging to particular classes, that's an indication that those classes are overpowered compared to the classes they don't have to...

D&D 3.x D&D 3.5 - Are full casters overpowered when compared to melee characters?

So true. Agreed - there are a lot of mitigating factors that result in varying levels of power discrepancy. For instance, in our current campaign the two full casters (both druids) are played by the two novices, including my 9-yr-old daughter. Also, it is magic item heavy, which favors...

D&D 3.x D&D 3.5 - Are full casters overpowered when compared to melee characters?

Based on JaronK's tier classifications, full casters have a significantly higher level of "power" based on the definitions he provides. My take is that the versatility provided by spells allows casters to take on a variety of roles and shine at any of them (depending on how focussed they are)...

    Exotic Mount and crazy ideas....

There is an Oozemaster Prc in Masters of the Wild. Also Slime Lord PrC from Player's Guide to Faerun. There is a Sentry Ooze template in Dungeonscape that could theoretically be applied to a Living Spell.

    No Multi-Weapon Defense feat?

The best defense is a good offense - go multiattack.

How should an Animal Companion react if it suddenly got an Int boost?

First thing - clothes. The Awaken spell says "An awakened tree or animal can speak one language that you know, plus one additional language that you know per point of Intelligence bonus (if any)." Now, that is from a magical effect, but I would still think an animal with an Int of 12 could...

Another shot at nerfing casters for balance

What's there doesn't work. A readied action is one shot, and only if you won initiative (or readied from a prior round) AND know where the caster is (unlikely). And you can still miss or they can make their Concentration. And you forego your full attack, thereby losing your most potent offense...

    Tripping flying creatures?

Although the flyby attack may be quite annoying, facing the dragon in melee might not be a walk in the park either...

    Tripping flying creatures?

While seemingly implausible, the dragon gets a lot of trip modifiers due to size and stability. If you can overcome those, you have made a super-heroic effort and should be rewarded with the stall IMHO.
