I agree casting it on the slide would fail. I would say the sorerer, if he casts FF on himself, would be treated as in the "slide" area based on the rules above as he would fall more slowly than the mud and rocks.

OK, so you finally admit you never played with anyone who knows how to play even a reasonably competent full caster. This is certainly part of the issue. Thanks for the clarification.

Sorry for badwrongfun. I am told that soloing high level fighters is quite the experience and I thought I might try it. I considered a caster, but I'm told they couldn't survive enough encounters.

Fighters are self-sufficient and can last many encounters without running out of resources; they can fight bare-handed if necessary. I would say if a fighter runs out of HP, he can cast spells, but that would seem moot. EDIT: Sadly, not everyone adventures in a party. It is good to know that...

So, you won't create an encounter because you think we'd make a build designed specifically against it (even though I offered to do it blind). You won't make a series of encounters because you don't want to waste your time playing D&D (when you could instead spend your time arguing about it)...
