Bee colony Secure a queen bee. Revel in NPC spellcasters' reactions when they see you covered in honeybees. Maybe craft an extradimensional beehive in your bag or belt for them to store their honey in.

Help me flesh out ship's crew

Good at crafting NPC's? Show your stuff. I've attached a list of characters for a ship in my D&D/AE homebrew called "The Southrunner" in both pdf and xls formats. Each has a name, race and level. They use a variety of sources. Take a look at the table and choose one, or more than one, to...

    DU2 Streets of Shadow

I've never bought Dungeon Tiles before, but I want this product based on the name alone. The confined spaces of urban environs always seem to demand more explicit layout, and I think that all the dungeon tiles I've seen have been pretty, whether or not I thought they seemed useful.

    Tiefling Tables

I love Tieflings. I love the name. I love the story. I love the feel. Planescape was, by far, my favorite 2nd E setting. Tiefers still see a lot of play in my campaign. I'm thrilled that they'll be included in the PHB1. I hope they'll get tables, or something equivalent, for making each...

What Is Your Adventuring Groups Name?

Twelve Seconds (of Bloodshed) almost always finished every encounter in two or fewer rounds. Heralds of the Kobold Horde were responsible for alerting a region that kobolds have returned after an absence of more than 50 years. The Veterans were controlled by players who started about a week...

    English Grammar and Spelling

I am a linguist and a teacher of English. As a linguist, my training leads me toward descriptivism, rather than proscriptivism. That is, I am trained to observe the language people use, not to tell them what language they should use. As an English teacher, I cringe when my fellow ENworlders...

    Wii as browser

By the way, for the two who didn't responded that they don't know what the wii is, I'll presume that your response was serious: wii is the new, consistently sold-out game machine from Nintendo. It doesn't have the high-end processing power of the Playstation 3 or the Xbox 360, but it's cheaper...

    Wii as browser

Yeah, the wii is bluetooth as well and a keyboard would make all the difference. Nintendo seems to make it a point of pride that the wii is only a game platform and not a music player/dvd player/blueray HD dishwasher, but there IS a web browser on the thing and it would be much, much easier to...

    Hexes are cool!

Generally, I like hexes outdoors and squares indoors, but we haven't even used miniatures extensively since 2nd E and the game is increasingly built upon the presupposition that every group is using miniatures on a square grid map.

Do you haze n00b's in initiation to your group?

Yeah. We make newbies hang out with RPG players, stay seated while others get their drinks for them, and we carefully supervise character creation, and patronize them by telling them which dice to roll, when, and why, as if they didn't already know. This is only for people new to the hobby...

Defending on both ends of a two-headed weapon?

In my campaign, I have all 'plus' weapon enhancements to apply equally to both ends of a double weapon. Only special effects like flaming, or holy, or defending, have to be enchanted separately. This means that 'plus' enchantments are more economical and special effects are less common.

Real illusions - Can you make your save?

I don't remember, off-hand, how big a bonus is afforded to disbelieve something you're told is an illusion, but for me, that bonus is what allowed me to see the deception. Otherwise, I would have to have taken 20 on an Appraise check to have seen the illusary nature.

(Poll, please read 1st post) What does the DM have the right to restrict?

The first option is my honest answer, but the last one was sorely tempting just for the asinine, joyous stupidity of it. I ran a game for a group of 7th graders recently. The bad guy swings "Armor Class 24!" says I "For 9 points of . . ." "That doesn't hit" say my player of a newly-generate...

Building races using a CR/ECL calculator?

I have a recurring debate with my wife over the ECL/LA system. We agree that it's broken, but disagree about how to fix it. I think she would prefer to just throw out racial hit dice and just use LA+class levels. I know that won't work, but I don't have a better alternative. I think that...
