    Ultimate Magic

Ooo...golem upgrades. And there is one to make a fantasy power suit. That's it. Any Pathfinder game I run, I am declaring Liber Mechanka's alternative magical item craft system as usable (which is actually slightly more expensive at lower levels, theoretically cheaper for higher level...

    What makes a better setting?

Right now I am working on a campaign setting, and I am up to 37 pages on the rough draft. Most of it is fluff, and I've only got a page on History and Cosmology. The thing is, I don't disagree with the OP - at least, not completely. There is a crap ton of room for people to add their own...

    Ultimate Magic

Still digging around, but a breif skim shows a lot of awsomeness filled with win. I'll see if there's some Adonis DNA or tiger blood around, but I'm not sold on the extra complexity of Words of Power.

Star Wars and Fantasy 7th Sea

As I understand it, George Lucas pretty much doesn't care (and even approves of) fan stuff, so long as you don't start raising money to build a working AT-AT or are making money off of it.

    Dragonborn/Draconic Feats, and a PRC

Skipped over most of the discussion, but I wanted to add something - I just picked up Ultimate Magic, and there is a bit of love for the dragon in there. Dragon Shaman is a new druid archetype.

    Orcs

Might be good for bad guys, but the Theocracy of the Church of Celestial Gears is lawful neutral and at least 80% civilized orc.

How to influence a group's rules usage without alienating them?

Well, if that's the attitude you bring to the table, I wouldn't want to play with you, either.

Pathfinder 1E Pathfinderized Artificer a la Steampunk

If it's broke, don't use it. Granted, one could say that of the original Artificer...give him a minute to buff before a battle is dangerous, and the application of metamagic feats to magical items = master blaster. Just make sure you houserule he can only apply a single metamagic feat by...

How to influence a group's rules usage without alienating them?

Then deal with it or move on. If you have noticed that you have a tendency to destroy groups, that suggests that you know where the issue lies and don't want to change.

How to influence a group's rules usage without alienating them?

I just don't necessarally think it is a bad thing for a new group to know how a new player is used to playing and vise versa. I know I'd rather know about potential conflicts in play style and rectify those issues before play rather than during. Now, if someone insists on not compromising or...

How to influence a group's rules usage without alienating them?

Well, taking such statement at face value (in which I have no reason to doubt or disbelieve you), I am sure that you know how it all comes down to how something is phrased. I am assuming (although possibly in error) that this new group has accepted a new player knowing that he only has DDI...

How to influence a group's rules usage without alienating them?

I didn't say they would agree with it, and I'm using "argument" in the freindly debate sense and not the shouting match sense. If tactful, subtle, and polite about it, it would be possible. There is always a social adjustment when there is a new guy in a group, whether it is a roleplaying group...

How to influence a group's rules usage without alienating them?

I dunno...there may be a legitimate argument to the DDI subscription. Which it, essentually, ownership of all the books (as long as you keep paying). There is an angle for argument here, in that you aren't actually breaking their contract. You just pay out money to WOTC in a different way.

    Orcs

Interesting, but I don't see myself using it at this point since I am aiming for the aberration angle.

    Orcs

D'karr - I know a bit about them warhammer orks and how their tech works because they think it should work. I'd even considered using the warhammer orc breeding cycle (sans orcs, though - just goblinoids and trolls), but decided against it. Cor Azer - spawning pools would make a good macguffan...

    Orcs

So I'm working on my Pathfinder Compatable Campaign Setting (this current post is about fluff, not mechanics), and I'm not happy about the orcs. Well, half of the orcs. Civilized Orcs are your typical city thug orcs or part of the Church of Celestial Gears (I think the irony of having a...

    Level 0

Volaran - Hrm, I can see that. Paradox - Good point, established further by some limitations that would end up imposed. Adept spellcasting not stacking with normal PC casting, since level 0 doesn't count as a character level a player still can't put more than 1 rank in a skill at first level...

    Level 0

Something that a freind and former DM of mine tried successfully under 3.5 was having characters start with a level from an NPC class as part of the background of the character. It worked rather well in actual play. Granted, the Pathfinder traits system handles this rather well, but I think the...

Running a novel-style epic fantasy campaign - how would you do it?

Every member in the Fellowship of the Ring had levels in something, except maybe the hobbits. I also wouldn't necessarally lable Pathfinder as "Simulationist" - it is gamest in it's own unique way from 4e, but still gamest. One thing a freind and former DM of mine did once was have us (the...

    Big Bad Evil Guy...the Eidolon?

The far realm is a good source for Eidolons...that, and the realm of dreams.
