Power of the Mind (opining about psionics)

Psionics, especially in D&D/D20, are a bit of an odd duck. Early on in the realm of fiction, fantasy, and scifi, it was a way to shoehorn magic-like effects into scifi. Super-science has then since moved on to radiation, genetic engineering, quantum theory, and nanotech, and with the exception...

    Halflings or Hobbits?

Whatever won't get me sued by the Tolkien Eestate if I use the name in something. Heck, if Tolkien himself hadn't admitted he got the name orc from somewhere else (not that non-tolkien orcs are often anything like tolkien orcs), nobody would be able to use it without potential legal issues from...

1001 minor traits for magic swords

    14. The Sword of Reckless Abandon. +1 to attack, -1 to AC

    Sea World

I assume Green Ronin's Freeport Companion (PFRPG version) would have at least some of what you are looking for, but I don't have the book.

    Shinobi (monk archetype)

I just have to wonder if this is necessary, what with the Paizo ninja coming out.

D&D 4E Remember when 4e fans laughed at Pathfinder for having rules for stairs?

Meh. This is where "cheating" comes into play when I GM. You want to do something like this, I'll invent a skill check and we'll see how the dice fall. Arbitrary? Perhaps, but makes for great fun at the table when I encourage players to try crazy stupid stuff.

    Groundlings

I'll get them tied together with some fluff, probably in a few days. That, and tweak/fix some things. I'm blaming the naming convention on the dwarves. They're the ones who keep conquring and renaming things... Elves in Phaetos have the ethnicities of Alfari (lawful, sort of sun elf), Telfari...

Pathfinder 1E Louis Porter Jr. Design Has a New Pathfinder Shirt Idea

I think I am going to start using this in threads I'm already involved in where edition wars start heating up. Well, unless this gets me in trouble.

    Groundlings

As of right now, this is the only new player race (ebon dwarves and living golems fall into "monsters as characters" and a GM can always, ALWAYS say no to such things). So drop tremorsense for it's awkwardness. I'm thinking that the burrow ability works somewhat like liquifaction, and it...

    Groundlings

Yeah, I need to rewrite the tremorsense to work more like scent. A groundling gets a DC check to locate a general location of where something is underground that is moving. Which is pretty much groundlings and bulettes. Oh, and gophers. Stupid giant gophers...always eating the flesh of...

    Groundlings

Well, all the good (and some not-so-good) names were taken.

    Wyldling Race

Yes, but it's the ability to choose for a player where everything goes in the race that seems off to me. The general rule of thumb is +2 to a physical score, +2 to a mental score, and -2 to any score. Human and half-humans get away with a single +2 to any score, because that second +2 is...

    Wyldling Race

The race seems to promote min-maxing. I'd probably remove the additional "+2 to any ability score" because the bonuses from the bestial traits seem a little strong. It also saves the "+2 to anything" for human and half-human races. Ooo...just had an alternative thought...the +2 and -2 scores...

Saying "yes" to players; also, turning cross-class skills into class skills

Yeaaaahhh...no. I'd say no to this. In fact, I'd download the ninja playtest from Paizo and tell him to play that if he wants to play a rogue/monk hybrid. Cha instead of Wis switch is mechanically okay, although how that would apply to his dodge bonus doesn't make story sense to me. I suppose...

Trying to determine the stats and abilities of a familiar!

It doesn't work quite like 3.5. The information on familiars is found under Wizard in the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Core Rulebook. According to the PDF I have, it is on page 83-84. Neither Imp or Silvanshee are listed in the core book. Imps are found in Bestiary I, and while they can be...

    Groundlings

A new race for my campaign setting. The previous races (Ebon dwarf, Living Golems) are ment for the bestiary. Groundlings are ment as a unique PC race. Critique and critisism appreciated.

    Golems as characters

2nd draft (also added to the original post). Creation of a living golem will be covered in a spell at a later time. Each type of golem has a special weakness and a special ability, and I think I've got the special abilities fairly balanced (but not over-balanced to the point of being formulaic)...

    Golems as characters

concerro: You missed it. Living Golems are effected by magical healing as any other living creature; death and dying works as normal, due to the weaking of the soul's hold on the artificial body. It's the second bullet point under Living Golem traits, before I start going into individual golem...

    Golems as characters

    - Actually, SR as a disguised curse not only fits with the setting, but it helps balance the race. It also helps with the flavor of "this is a golem." Comparable to the Warforge and the effectivness of healing being halved. - Stats were written with what seemed appropriate at the time, although...

    Golems as characters

A PDF of playable Living Golems, first draft. The text was a little long for copy & paste. I'd like a critique of both the concept and the race write-ups. While I did swipe a few things from the Warforge, I tried to keep the feel of golems from Bestiary 1. Thoughts? EDIT: 2nd Draft
