My number #1 wish: No More Magic Marts!

But I love roleplaying "Ye ol' Magik Pawn & Bow!" It makes the players sweat.

    D&D 5E (2014) Should 5E have Healing Surges?

I can see healing surges returning as an option under the (optional) Action Point mechanic from 3.5/Modern, maybe relabled as "second wind." Instead of recovering with a decent rest after every encounter, I could also see a healing ritual, since rituals are making a comeback. Rituals are suppose...

    People have the strangest deal-breakers

I don't have any deal-breakers myself. While I play Pathfinder, I don't hate 4e, and enjoyed playing it when I did. I've learned a lot about DMing with 4e, having incorporated minions, reduced stat blocks (why stat everything I'm not going to use?) for enemies and NPCs, and a few other short...

    D&D 5E (2014) Should 5E have Healing Surges?

I think it'll be an optional rule. They did say that more than the cleric was going to be healing, though.

A thought about how to handle races

I can see that, except maybe switching half elf and gnome, while maybe just going with full-blown orc instead of half orc. Mostly a matter of semantics on that one, though. I would maybe add Warforged to the rare category.

    People have the strangest deal-breakers

Note: please, please to not edition war. The mods don't like it, many posters don't like it, and I'm not trying to invoke nerd rage. So we've only got a few bits and pieces, mostly discussing design theory. Already, comments are flying about how one thing or another is a deal breaker, even...

    D&D 5E (2014) The classes of 5e (now with 90% less speculation)

I like the common/uncommon/rare division. If you can fit everything about a class into a two-page spread, it's not that bad as far as size. Heck, if they can reduce a 20 level class to a single page, it's even better. Modules would allow for more variety, both in the PHB and splats...

Seminar Transcript - Class Design: From Assassins to Wizards

*sigh* ...nabberdaggit... I'm actually starting to get excited about 5e. I didn't want that, at least so soon.

    Hobbits are Back!

Screw subrace bloat. Pathfinder's optional alternative racial traits are a lot better than a full statting of 52 different elves.

    Relevant Orcs

That reminds me - Star Wars Saga had a mechanic for grouping lower level units into a single squad based unit (mechanically equivelent to turning Stormtroopers into a Stormtrooper Swarm), and even scaling it up for mass battles. Something similar could work with 5e - I know I've considered using...

    Hobbits are Back!

Sure, but how about a fat elf? One thing I like about recent Zelda games is that they aren't afraid to have elves look like something other than asexual twigs. Okay, 4e was a little better than that, but in D&D it seems that elves have 60 different subspecies with all the same build.

    Looking for tables

Crystal Keep used to have a bunch of 3e/3.5 tables before WotC DMCAed them. I still have those, but I was wondering if anybody knows if someone ever did the same thing with Pathfinder's stuff. This sort of thing would be handy when I don't have online access.

    A Better Monster Manuel

Doesn't do any bit of good if the internet isn't avalible and I need to go digging through PDFs or books that I don't have memorized.

A thought about how to handle races

With all the debating of what should and should not be core with races, here's an idea that I think would work as a decent compromise (especially with the modularity theme): 5 or 6 fleshed out races, maybe even harkening back to older editions of D&D (Human, halfling, elf, dwarf, orc). Rules...

    Ebook Support

To expand on my XP reply... Apple tools are far too proprietory, especially since Android has a much bigger market share and Windows 8 is expected to snag market share at least equil to Apple shortly after launch. Best to bring something to market that works cross-platform, as you can reach...

    A Better Monster Manuel

One think I like about 4e is that it has the extra playable races in an appendix. One thing that annoys me about 3.5/Pathfinder is that they don't. Templates, both advanced and simple, should get the same treatment. Monster ecology is a good thing. Advancement templates are a good thing.

The Return of the Sneaking Man

Step 1: there's a poison for that, at least in 3e. Step 2: I think Unearthed Arcana had something for that in 3e. I know Pathfinder has called shots in Ultimate Combat. Besides, sleep (drow) poison is much more effective. Then you could just slit their throats as the attacker was rendered...

What kind of New Setting for Fifth Edition? (Other than old settings)

Well, other than a World Builder's Guidebook (which would have tables and tables to roll up an entire setting, cultures, etc), I want to see a new spin on old elements, taking the series in a new direction. Kinda like the differences between the old '80s Thundercats and the new series, or how...
