    What's wrong with Mini-Centric?

There's nothing wrong with using them, but assuming them by default makes it more difficult to play without them. And since I never play with miniatures, it makes the game less appealing.

    Compare oWoD w/ nWoD

It's much less of a problem in nWoD with the local focus. Many vampires are unaligned, plenty of werewolves are ghost wolves and plenty of mages are apostates. These are not groups, just the nomenclature. The only splat set up with no room for extra "big splats" is Werewolf, because you...

    OotS 465 IS up.

I've done that. Sometimes it succeeds, sometimes it ends up just being confusing, but I have completely changed the back story in response to player theorizing.

    True20 Darwin's World

So the Darwin's World campaign guide would be a good buy for someone who is rather taken with the True 20 version? I was afraid it'd be mostly D20 Modern stuff, but if it's almost entirely system neutral, I'll grab it. I hope this version sells well enough to justify a conversion of the...

    Oops! I think I killed rpg.net

The D20 forum isn't a "ghetto", it's an effort to increase D20 discussion at RPG.net. Whether or not it is working is another question, but that's the stated goal.

    The Mythos

This question begins and ends in one place: Thomas Ligotti. There are many others, but his work is the alpha and the omega.

RPGNet - What's Up With the d20 Ghetto?

My hope is that it'll be in place a month or two, drum up D20 interest and discussion, then get folded back into the original forum- and that interest and level of discussion will remain intact. Not that I'm much of a D20 fan, but the forum does seem to be attracting more posts than D20...

"low" magic campaign using D&D rules

Well, you could always say that the PCs are very special, but part of a small 'very special' minority. So most towns and NPCs are on the low end of the scale, but there's still a single super-wizard in a tower somewhere, and the local Emperor has elite bodyguards and assassins to call on if...

"low" magic campaign using D&D rules

Because if the game is facilitating an enjoyable experience...it's not badly designed? Seriously, sometimes random chargen and getting stuck with a one-legged former acrobat with gout is fun.

    Pulp Cthulhu - what happened?!

I thought dual-statted products were unpopular?

D&D and the Cthulhu mythos: Adventure ideas?

I had a much longer post I accidentally destroyed. It was totally awesome- probably the greatest post in the history of internet forums. Seriously. That post was great. Anyway, I have neither the patience nor the energy to do it all again, so instead... Professor Phobos' Instant Mythos...

D&D and the Cthulhu mythos: Adventure ideas?

I have no idea either, but the name fits, for some reason.

    Pulp Cthulhu - what happened?!

I take it seriously. Everyone in the BRP fan "community" regards it well and takes it seriously. You are being insulting and dismissive based on your "pet systems" popularity in our tiny little niche of a hobby. I am increasingly less willing to put up with this as I age and become more angry...

OOTS 450 - Wands are for Suckers

I dunno, man, this is the same old thing- no "Law of Drama" was violated in that strip. There are no rules about this stuff. I get that it didn't work for you, but you will not be able to find a textbook that says, "Yes, sillyness and severity can not mix." Besides, it isn't as if Villainous...

D&D and the Cthulhu mythos: Adventure ideas?

Seven mythos-themed story ideas for Dungeons and Dragons: 1. The Old Speech: Traders on strange vessels have arrived from faraway lands, speaking strange tongues. They're goods are odd, artistically, but nothing is dangerous about their cargoes. But the language they speak- it's hard to forget...

OOTS 450 - Wands are for Suckers

I guess I'll go tell that to seven years (well, five...four) of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and any one of a thousand more or less serious works that had moments of humor to accentuate the moments of severity.

    Pulp Cthulhu - what happened?!

"Takes seriously" is not the same as "widely loved" or "well known."

    Pulp Cthulhu - what happened?!

The hell? This isn't a reiteration of "the most popular is best for everyone" screed again, is it? BRP is a fine and dependable system, and has been for decades now. This "D20 Uber Alles" stuff gets on my nerves.

    Pulp Cthulhu - what happened?!

They've been better the last couple years- ever since Secrets of Japan came out, not a year has gone by without at least a book or two. The Malleus Monstronum and Secrets of Kenya are both pretty good.

    OotS 449

Not really. They knew what the risks were of staying in that room and no doubt felt strengthened by the idea of being able to continue to perform their duties after death. It isn't as if Hinjo is discarding lives for personal or momentary gain- they were not cannon fodder. They knew and...
