Would you play in a setting with no money?

Kind of depends on how you want to set things up. Tribal societies rarely developed their own currency- Native American tribes in the Pacific Northwest used sea-shells, but that's the only example I can think of. Most everything was communal, held to the Chief who had, via the "potlatch"...

    Getting rid of AoO-Good Idea?

The AoO rules were designed by the Devil to inflict pain and suffering on mankind, and all the D20 variants I like have dropped them like the needlessly complicated and intrusive foolishness they are. If True 20 can do it, so can you. Go ahead and cut 'em out; you'll speed up combat plenty.

    D&D vs WHFRP

It's also fun to roll up a character. Part of the Warhammer charm to work your way out of the bone picking industry.

    D&D vs WHFRP

Normally, I'd agree, but the "hard luck" aspect of Warhammer is what makes it special. While with most games I prefer to stick with my own vision for a character, going all random (even for race) with Warhammer produces an enjoyable result if you're willing to run with whatever you get. Kind of...

    D&D vs WHFRP

WHFRP is a huge change of pace from D&D. Keep an open mind and enjoy the grim peril, and you'll be fine.

    "Childish", "Teenage" and "Adult" RPGs?

This comparison isn't actually in Dubious Shards, I think. Ken Hite would pick better wording. Anyway, it's basically correct, just as long as you remember that there is no value judgement on the terms- D&D can be quite "adult" in one sense. It's just that the core themes of the game is one...

5E - What do you predict for FIFTH edition?

All disconnected discrete human entities with A6 Clearance for Recreation and authorization to spend three cycles or more in downtime during non-core time will be permitted to gland "Dungeons and Dragons, 9th Edition" by Central Control. Central Control will then create the game scenario...

Who here has bought Transhuman Space?

It's not unplayable, but it is a bit daunting, and takes a little extra effort to get right. Which isn't really a bad thing, just intimidating. A GM's guide would go a long way toward taking the edge off.

Who here has bought Transhuman Space?

Had the complete set back when they were at full price, and I don't regret it at all. Wonderful setting. A bit tough to do anything with it, but that is what I suppose the GM's guide will be for, if it truly exists.

Order of the Stick: How long will they put up with Miko?

ah, but they're not just aware of the rules, but aware they're in a roleplaying game and a comic strip. The wider context of an RPG means annoying DMPCs crop up from time to time. It was an inevitable story arc to introduce. Now, if Haley defeats Miko by jumping across comic book panels a la...

    Gay PCs or NPCs

Yep; one of my players had a gay PC for a while (then he got turned into a vampire and had to be staked) and there have been a couple gay NPCs. (I should probably throw in another one, come to think of it) If it matters, the gay PC was played by a (as far as I know) straight guy. There's a gay...

Why Are Warrior Women Never Ugly?

The answer is... GOOD fantasy doesn't always fall prey to those cliches. Brienne of Tarth, for example, in a Song of Ice and Fire, is a monstrously ugly warrior woman. There are a fair number of good-looking warriors (Ser Loras, King Renly, etc) but just as many ugly or unremarkable ones...

    Suppressed Transmissions vs. GURPS Illuminati

Pass on both. Suppressed Transmission basically just hits Warehouse 23 on the head with a tire iron, and Black Ops is very, very mediocre.

    Please explain Other Gaming Systems

You can check out GURPS for free in the form of "GURPS Lite", which is the basics. The system I know best is Cinematic Unisystem. Six attributes- Perception, Willpower, Intelligence, Strength, Dexterity, Constitution. You roll attribute+skill+ 1d10 +/- relevant penalties. If you're over 9, you...

    Suppressed Transmissions vs. GURPS Illuminati

True, but, then again, I already have both volumes, and if they aren't going to release another one, Pyramid is sadly my only option...

    Suppressed Transmissions vs. GURPS Illuminati

Indeed, I felt the same way. I intend to wait until Ken Hite stops doing them, subscribe one last time, and get all of them.

    Suppressed Transmissions vs. GURPS Illuminati

The 2nd one didn't sell very well. I also figure that the first convinced many people to get a Pyramid subscription to have regular access to ST, and, well, that decreases the utility of a second book. Personally, I'd love to see a 3rd and 4th collection, or one really huge, uber-collection.

    Suppressed Transmissions vs. GURPS Illuminati

Neither. For the cost of just one Suppressed Transmission, you can get a Pyramid subscription and have access to *every* Suppressed Transmission via their archives. Plus some other stuff, much of it decent. As for GURPS Illuminati, while it is fairly good, Ken Hite is writing GURPS...

    Review of Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

I don't know how Green Ronin/Black Industries pulled it off, but I've been able to find every Warhammer FRP book at my local Barnes and Noble or Borders, which is fantastic. Normally that kind of bookstore would only have WoD and D&D stuff, and I'd have to take a trip to a game store/order...
