I don't think it was. Overlapping was specifically made impossible, but not for multiple bursts to hit the same creature of great size. The spell would seem more fair if no two bursts can hit the same creature. Slim

IMO, the ranger's actions were justified. How could the ranger trust the blackguard? Why should he trust him? My reasoning would have been that the bad guy will kill the paladin anyways. The ranger could have tried to charge the blackguard instead, though. Slim
