I agree, in a way. It sounds more like they are going to be more into character variants rather than PrC's. But PrC's allow you to achieve things that some variants just cant touch. But that is in 3.5. 4e may work differently.

Valid concern. But I think that it's been proven that a PC would make more money adventuring than he would plying his craft.
