What's All This About Third Party 5E Stuff?

I was referring to the text, not the art and non-rules information. Being one of the people that made and owns Fifth Edition Foes I can tell you that we specifically allow the reproduction of our stat blocks and rules portions of the creatures. And since we copied the trade dress of Pathfinder...

What's All This About Third Party 5E Stuff?

As far as Fifth Edition Foes goes... it's OGL and the stat block can be reproduced in its entirety. I'm not sure why you think that it would be otherwise. Unless that's your reasoning for wanting a 5E OGL, so you can reproduce WotC material? (I want it, too.)

What's All This About Third Party 5E Stuff?

Of course you can, and I even thought of mentioning that, but I was specifically talking about 3rd party products that require no conversion to 5th Edition. Fifth Edition Foes also uses a stat block derived from the fully open Pathfinder stat block.

What's All This About Third Party 5E Stuff?

Or you can use creatures from Fifth Edition Foes from Frog God Games or the upcoming Tome of Beasts from Kobold. In those cases it's perfectly fine to mention the source (and include it in your OGL).

    D&D 5E (2014) FGG Lost Lands: Borderlands is 5e

Logistically it would work out that we have a ton of books to warehouse because we would have to meet a minimum print run and wind up costing us more in the long run just to keep the books. (Not to mention that selling 5 copies won't even cover the cost of printing.) Let's say our minimum print...

    D&D 5E (2014) FGG Lost Lands: Borderlands is 5e

Any other questions about the setting? Outside of being a member of the Frog God Games company, I am a fan of 5E and I personally want our company to support this ruleset. I'm hoping that enough of you want this to continue as well. And we're starting the 5E campaign books off with the part...

D&D 5E (2014) Adventure Design: Backstory and History

I honestly prefer sandbox adventures with narrative hooks and a big, central place to adventure. Tomb of Abysthor and Lost City of Barakus being my two favorite examples of the setting. I also like the more recent version of Rappan Athuk which more explicitly encourages quick delves with return...

    D&D 5E (2014) So, 5e OGL

OK. I stopped paying attention after the first draft because of how disgusted I was with that clause (so that's on me and duly noted for future reference). I think you CAN do 4E under the OGL, but it would just take way more linguistic tap-dancing than is required for doing 5E under the OGL.

    D&D 5E (2014) So, 5e OGL

I think that it's because it was much more difficult to emulate 4E with the OGL than it is to emulate 5E. (No reflection on how FGG is doing it as I wasn't involved in that part of it.)

    D&D 5E (2014) So, 5e OGL

I know that you're joking, but at least you can make 5E compatible material and not have to cease producing any other OGL material.

    D&D 5E (2014) So, 5e OGL

The last time he spoke about licensing, it was for a fan license. Which is all well and good, but still leaves me wondering if they will officially support 3PPs filling the holes in product development that they are apparently unwilling to fill themselves. (Or don't have the staff to do so, or...

D&D 5E (2014) The Lost Lands: Borderland Provinces

The Lost Lands has its seeds in Bill Webb's campaign world that he developed in the 70s and 80s. His inspiration was very much grim Sword and Sorcery with heroes fighting dark magics. Think "Conan" but with more magic available. Demon Lords encroaching on the world - Orcus features heavily in...

D&D 5E (2014) The Lost Lands: Borderland Provinces

It's true, it does reference that material, but the other material isn't essential to using the Borderland Provinces as campaign setting material. It gives you lands with a rich history to use as your own and stands on its own as a campaign setting because it acts as a core to tie the pillars of...
