The Collected Journals of Artemis Heuw Cannith

Caelen writes from Talenta 3/14/07 I'm retconning this letter to accomodate Kylara's departure. sniffles From: Caelen Siorath Near Gatherhold, Talenta Plains To my family; It's hard to be so close to home and not be able to go there. We've arrived safely in the Talenta Plains after a long...

The Collected Journals of Artemis Heuw Cannith

The Collected Journals of Artemis Heuw Cannith, excerpt 18 At last, an update! :) sniffles "My arm was achingly tired by the time I finished the last rune. It hung in the air with it's companions; the complete spell copied over and over again like sentences on a chalkboard. The blue glow...

Dresden Files, who would you cast?

I agree. And I had the same thought about Harry doing more spellcasting. I don't mind the hockey stick at all, I was just glad to see it do something. I also noticed that although he doesn't seem to have any difficulty with telephones (so far), Harry does have his apartment/office lit only with...

What do your players do with thier dead foes?

Depends on the situation. Usually, loot the bodies and leave them where they lie. But we might bury them nicely if the circumstances warrant, or if we're playing a party of goody-two-shoes types.

    List of Character Creation Questions?

Wow, I can't believe you went to all that effort, Nyaricus. Nice. But I'm in Phindar's camp. Those questionnaires are nice to make you think about your character as something other than stats on a character sheet, but I wouldn't want to answer every question before the game begins. I wouldn't...

Dresden Files, who would you cast?

I enjoyed the latest episode. They did a number of things that made me think, "Ah, that's the Harry Dresden I know from the books!". I hope "Sharon" makes another appearance later so we can find out more about her and if she's up to anything beyond insurance fraud. But while I liked the...

    Discworld

I didn't care much for Pyramids myself. But I also recommend the Watch books.

Are you a gamer or a reader?

Based on your poll criteria, I'm a gamer. I doubt I'd be in here talking the game if I weren't playing it.

Worst miniature paint job evAr! Get it off the table!

I think the joke mini is like using a joke name for a character. It indicates the player doesn't take the game seriously. If the game is intended to be light and humorous that's fine, but if everyone else is taking it seriously and has expectations that this is a serious game then that guy's...

Dresden Files, who would you cast?

As the episodes have progressed it seems like they're showing more magic, but I agree they do seem to be a bit afraid of overtly showing anything magical. They keep having Bob do a lot of the magic instead of Harry, which is frustrating. And I miss Harry's incantations. I don't see what would be...

    Discworld

I highly recommend the three Tiffany Aching books: Wee Free Men, A Hat Full of Sky, and Wintersmith. They contain all of Pratchett's charm and humor but also have very moving moments. He has an amazing grasp of the mind of an adolescent girl. And the Nac Mac Feegles are hilarious. :)

Shadows of Greatness, a Forgotten Realms campaign UPDATED February 1, 2008

A Question of Faith When I returned from our short journey to Yalasch, I was reminded that I do not care for this city of Calimport. It will be a relief to get shut of it. It is not only the heat nor the lack of greenery that makes this city unwelcoming to me, nor even the scarcity of...

What is your definition of Railroading?

"Railroading" is any time the DM tells me what my character does, so long as my character isn't mind-controlled, charmed, or otherwise unable to control her actions. When the DM says, "You pick up the sword..." or something of that nature rather than asking me what I'd like my character to...

Sagiro's Story Hour Returns (new thread started on 5/18/08)

My curiosity is leading me to become a pest. ;) I'm sure I could probably find the answers to my questions by reading through the comments, but I think anyone would agree that's rather a daunting task. What I'd like to know is: What level are the PCs now? How was Sagiro able to keep level...

Shadows of Greatness, a Forgotten Realms campaign UPDATED February 1, 2008

The teleport to meet the dwarves was intended to be resolved via email prior to our next session tomorrow, but unfortunately other commitments have prevented this from occurring. Once this part of the adventure has been detailed I'll post it here.

Sagiro's Story Hour Returns (new thread started on 5/18/08)

Thanks for that info. I'm thinking of going to recordings. I take handwritten notes, so it often distracts me from the actual play, and I leave a lot of stuff out if I'm tired or distracted. It's nice to know how that works for someone who's been doing it so long.
