What other games do you play?

I used to play RuneQuest 2E quite regularly. I'm a member of a current Champions campaign. I've also played in campaigns using Warhammer FRPG and GURPS.

Shadows of Greatness, a Forgotten Realms campaign UPDATED February 1, 2008

A Momentous Evening Author's note: I'm now inserting the quips & quotes in the text where they occurred, but they're s-blocked. ------------------------------ As we remained in the ambassador's quarters awaiting his return, our relaxing sojourn was interrupted by commanding voices from the...

    Campaign Duration

Our group has several campaigns that have been running for years. Sometimes I think I'd like to try shorter campaigns, though, just to speed up the action and get a chance to do a bigger variety of characters and campaign styles.

    Player canceling late

I have a friend who knew that his family issues might prevent him from attending a game regularly, and he intentionally created a character who could be run as an NPC in the player's absence. I wish that more players were as considerate. Life interferes sometimes, as much as we dislike it. But...

    Carrying Oddball Weapons

Precisely. Even arrows weren't carried around in quivers; military archers transported them in wagons along with all of the other equipment, and stuck them in the ground at their feet during combat. I have a PC who uses a longspear. I'm often amused by the thought of her hauling it into inns...

What should be added to the Realms?

More information about the rest of the world. What about Maztica and Kara-Tur?

    EUREKA:Season 2-9/2007-Show12

Why are there two threads for this topic? I was disappointed by this episode. It lacked a sufficient sense of tension for what was happening in the story. And I found it really irritating that all the things Kevin was supposed to have done occurred off-screen.

Is the Doctor's name really Doctor Who?

"Thete" is short for Theta Sigma, I believe, which was implying that Time Lords had organizations similar to college fraternities. It is not the Doctor's name, which has never been revealed. In fact, IIRC in 'The Shakespeare Code', one of the witches reads his mind and says she can't even find...

So what edition are you playing on a regular basis

All of our D&D games are 3.5, with a few house rules. Anything else we play is non-D&D.

Do your D&D campaigns use additonal rules?

That pretty well describes my group, too. Except for the 3rd-party stuff. We don't use much of that.

The Collected Journals of Artemis Heuw Cannith

Just a refresher Since the party makeup has changed quite a bit and the campaign has take a couple of hiatuses, I'm offering a Who's Who: Artemis Heuw Cannith (Devo) - male human artificer Azlin Valkara (me) - female dwarf fighter/cleric of the Sovereign Host Conshru (Zora) - male halfling...

The Collected Journals of Artemis Heuw Cannith

Azlin's tale, pt. 6 Jubilee: "I can't help it - I see written things, I read them." DH: "Cursed scrolls, here we come!" Jubilee: "I am not getting naked to get into a pool!" Zora: "Yes, but what about your character?" Graywall's pretty scummy. Doesn't hold up to the stone carving of the Six...

    New Highlander (TV) Movie

Okay, they re-ran it last night and once again whilst channel-surfing I ran across it. This time at the very beginning. Voice-over narration is usually not a good sign. Especially not when it's a sort of "in media res" narration, like they couldn't be bothered to come up with a better reason...

(Rant) I don't like variable conditional modifiers

I've got a friend whose character has Power Attack, and also has levels in barbarian. :uhoh: He made himself a sort of spreadsheet of his attack bonus dependent on how much he puts into his Power Attack and whether or not his character is raging at the time. I need to talk with my GM about...

    What should the Realms Lose?

I wouldn't mind seeing the high-level NPCs step back a little, although I wouldn't necessarily want to get rid of the Chosen. They're like Superman - very powerful, but they can't be everywhere. That's what PCs are for. Also, a pet peeve of mine is the presence of the Egyptian pantheon smack in...

    I agree. See el-remmen's post.

(Rant) I don't like variable conditional modifiers

So I'm playing an elf wizard, using the elf wizard substitution levels from Races of the Wild. The alternative elf wizard's familiar replaces Deliver Touch Spells and Speak With Others of Its Kind with the Natural Link ability, which doubles whatever benefit the familiar gives to the wizard...

The Collected Journals of Artemis Heuw Cannith

Azlin's tale resumes We're back! :) I've decided to start placing my "quips and quotes" inside the narrative to put them in context. They're sblocked for those who don't want to see them. _______________________ Quips: DH: "Let us move forward a little bit. No, let us back up." sniffles...

    New Highlander (TV) Movie

I didn't watch the whole movie, having very little hope for it. But I happened to be channel-surfing and hit it just as Joe died. That told me right there that it was at maximum suckage. :(

Multiple POVs, good bad or indifferent?

Multiple POVs bug me too, but it depends on how it's done. In LOTR it's everyone heading for the same point, so it doesn't bother me. But if it's groups of characters whose actions may be interconnected but who may never meet or will only meet in passing, then I don't find it as enjoyable to...
