    D&D 5E (2014) Does the Artificer Suck?

You say that but the math disagrees. The Archery style is a whole +1 hit over the infusion and they both can use SS so the gab there is tiny. You're going have to back that claim up with some actual proof because even if a player wanted to dispense with the SD (which is doing a bang up job if...

    D&D 5E (2014) Does the Artificer Suck?

Eh. The damage difference between ranger, paladin, and artificer is margin of error small. Definitely not being lapped. They can take the same damage feats (cheaper for them actually thanks to SaDness) and if they go battlesmith and the difference be becomes solely based on how far into the...

    D&D 5E (2014) How/What Artificer For My World?

I'd say it would depend on your party but I don't think it matters much so pick the one you think is the most enjoyable. Keep an eye out for ritual spells/infusions to address environmental concerns. Like using water breathing as a reverse deep dive helm for pockets of posion gas.

    D&D 5E (2014) Does the Artificer Suck?

The maverick in KB's exploring eberron comes close to this. Slow at first but reeeaaalllyyy ramps up later on. The end up with bonus spell slots and free upcasting.

    D&D 5E (2014) More swingy combat

Now we're talking. It rewards both active avoidance and mitigation in the face of damage.

    D&D 5E (2014) More swingy combat

Fair point. odd thought what if you ditched hp all together went straight to x amount of hits take you out with each class having a different threshold + con modifier? Makes hordes super deadly.

    D&D 5E (2014) More swingy combat

This might be a case of spending resources making a flying car when you could just buy an airplane. 5e is hard wired against swingy results. It's doesn't feel deadly because it's not deadly. You could change a bunch of factors that will speed it up but I doubt you can change the fact it's not...

    D&D 5E (2014) More swingy combat

Your best bet is to just diversify how your players feel threatened by challenges. HP races are never really exciting regardless if you have 2 or 20 rounds in an encounter. Start by adding conditions everywhere. My favorite ones focus on attacking players where it really hurts. The action...

You can move through allies space as DT as well. Just can't end your turn in that space.

    D&D 5E (2014) Testing Dice?

That is a common belief is completely false. the discrepancies of thickness is the glass panels hade everythingto do with the manufacturing processes at the time. If you look at all the glass manufactured around the same time you'll find equal amounts that have thicker middles and bottoms. The...

    D&D 5E (2014) Does the Artificer Suck?

Do you still have civics? They removed it in about every country I've resided in other than Iceland of all places. 😐 It's still in early testing but the vancian rules work really well with spell points IMO. The basic goal is to have them working like a better worded spell storing item. they...

    D&D 5E (2014) Does the Artificer Suck?

This hurts my soul. Haven't read too much on general Tasha's commentary. I'm waiting for the rabble to calm down with the new flexible racial rules before jumping in. I working on using a hybrid of the spellpoint rules and vancian magic for the artificer. One of the big complaints for that...

    D&D 5E (2014) Does the Artificer Suck?

Interesting. Never understood breaking up literature chronologically past looking at inspiration and social commentary for any giving piece of work. On the subject of the artificer within 5e one of the big complaints I see is it doesn't quite capture the essence that the class represents...

    D&D 5E (2014) Does the Artificer Suck?

I can see the scarlet letter getting skipped in the UK but I'm honestly surprised Kurt Vonnegut's writing is not used. Is dystopian literature not core?

    D&D 5E (2014) Does the Artificer Suck?

It's a short story that is read as often as the Lord of the flies or the scarlet letter in school. You are trying to gatekeep fun. Which is funny because trying to define fun is purely a philosophical pursuit.

    D&D 5E (2014) Does the Artificer Suck?

So if someone spends time thinking about something you don't understand it's pretentious and must be shamed? Harris Bergerton much? Games are one of the largest consumer markets in the world and have been a part of humanity longer than written history and is a something found throughout the...

    D&D 5E (2014) Does the Artificer Suck?

There's always a better wa but pop culture power. Most acronyms that become solidified in language tend to have some. I left the caps of to show the transition from jargon to colloquialism. STEM is fairly new but it's heading that way. I see it in grade school handbooks.

    D&D 5E (2014) Does the Artificer Suck?

I would say 1 out of maybe 1000 people know the laser acronym but 990 of that same group could tell you what a laser is on some level. Should we never use the word just because they can't define the acronym even if the meaning was accurately stated in a concise manner?

    D&D 5E (2014) Does the Artificer Suck?

STEM is a acronym based colloquialism like NASA, laser, HDMI, or YMCA. Most people have no idea what they stand for but understand what they represent. STEM is the opposite of jargon because it serves as a stand in word for fields know for technical terminologies.
