Still waiting for news about the future of d20 Modern

The error many (most?) fans make though is equating the statement "what the fans want" with the statement "what I want." We'd all like to have what we want, but in the eyes of big business, the fans buy what they want, and when something is no longer selling to a certain margin, the "fans" no...

    Duck Stats

Mebbe not as bad as it sounds Bonus to swim skill? For traditionally low strength mages, this might not be all that bad a deal.

    Modules and bigger parties...

Exactly Around our table, we refer to this as "attack density", and it is often a huge and difficult to judge advantage. Work to even up the number of action the BBEG will have (through henchmen, maybe a potion of haste, etc) as compared to the party.

    Buffs and Maths (mini-rant)

In a sense My problem isn't with buffing, but with the current number of different named bonuses running about the game, stacking up (or not) all about as the case may be. I've been DM'ing for the same basic group (4 of the 6) for 26 years..the 5th is my little brother who came in late because...

Wrong amount of experience for killing Crimson Death

Nope I'm pretty sure your DM awarded precisely the correct amount of experience for the encounter.

Do you care if it is a premade adventure?

No (but yes) This is from the DM side of the table, as I have played very little by comparison in many years gaming. Maybe not right now, but you will get good in time at customizing even published modules to tailor them slightly to the players and thier PC's. As you read a published...

Heh.. If you're that good at predicting the future (or even the present), submit your resume with concrete examples of success throughout the marketing world. You will be paid beyond your wildest dreams.

    Dungeons of Castle Blackmoor Preview

Looks fine to me I guess I'm not seeing it. Aside from some walls not running straight down gridlines or halfgrids, I can't see what doesn't line up. My printed version looks fine too...Adobe scaled it down a couple % but that's more a function of printers and margins than the actual document.

Is The Keep on the Borderlands a well-designed adventure module?

Would that be the "Hey Rube" version of Bree-Yark, or the "Intruders" version?

The bigger they are, the harder they are to kill

"I can swallow a fireball doing the same damage to anything inside its area of effect, regardless of whether it has a surface area the size of a pack of playing cards or the size of a building, much more easily than I can accept someone standing in front of a dragon's left foot and hurting it."...

Does using Combat Expertise qualify as "fighting defensively?"

Oh for crying out loud, Hyp referenced the exact rule that tells you what happens, and there is no possible way to interpret it other than what it says right there on p140. Quit trolling.

Spawn of Kyuss vs. the Paladin

I'd probably let the paladin be protected from the worm infestation. As you note, there does seem to be some precedent for it with the Remove Disease killing the worm, and in my experience the paladin's disease immunity sees use so little that it's very nearly a nonability...diseases seem to be...

Help fill my haunted house with cool encounters.

Opposing "teams" Consider that the animated objects and experiements have gravitated into factions all vying for control of the house. Something like 3 teams along the lines of Animated objects/ elementals/ haunts and spooks...whatever would fit your plans. In that way, the party has a...

To go or not to go....

Go to GenCon, have a blast, be sure to tell your sonall about it when you get home. The alternative it is to convey to your son that it really wasn't worth attending after all anyways.

A killer puzzle that makes me want to pull my hair out.

But that's just it...he attempted to rely on exactly that Intelligence 5, Academics 4...that's what skill checks ARE. But when a successful skill check does not impart information that the player finds useful, that's no different than a failed skill check and you're right back to punishing a...

A killer puzzle that makes me want to pull my hair out.

Puzzles are always childlishly simple for the one that invents them :) I would not have enjoyed a puzzle that complex without more clues or options.

What to do after a not-so-good session???

I don't do much There are just too many variables from one game day to the next. How you're feeling, how your players are feeling, how mucn prep time everyone's had, what's going on in everyone's life... Spend a little time thinking over the BIG things you think went poorly (don't sweat the...

What are some Good Old Fashioned hangover cures?

Too late It won't help with the hangover you already have, but for future reference eating potatoes before drinking will greatly lessen the hangover. Has something to do with the starch and alcohol absorbtion.
