    -10 + 1/2 level

What level are they, and what kind of stuff will they be fighting? The size of the damage chunk, and the presence of area of effect spells which hit unconscious PCs, changes how effective this will be.

    -10 + 1/2 level

It's just a question of how much you want PCs to die. I do -( level + Con score + 5 per Toughness feat).

    D&D 5E (2014) 4.5E D&D slated for early 2010

Shouldn't we double the number of rules every 18 months?

    D&D 4E 4e: Stats of Stat Bonus?

Feat prerequisites, ability damage/drain, and exactly how much you can carry are three things that use the increased granularity of stats and bonuses being sepperate. Losing this granularity wouldn't be a big deal in my opinion, but I wouldn't mind if it stayed, either. D20 modern uses it for...

Why D&D Should Be More Like WoW

I thought one of the design decisions behind E6 was to allow for continued advancement, rather than just stopping advancement cold at 6th. Not everyone plays D&D to tell a story; some people like to smash some monsters and get some l00t and k3wl powers. I like doing both. To the OP: I do think...

Did This Prove to be True?

My understanding of what was said is that 4e is closer to 3e than 3e is to 2e, but they realized that conversion guides just don't work, so they aren't making one.

Why D&D Should Be More Like WoW

I thought this was an excellent post. Hopefully I'll have some more insightful feedback tomorrow.

Gaming Pornography: Will 4th Edition lead to a more Realistic and Useful Game?

I am honestly curious: Why is being realistic a desireable quality in a game? Why is being useful a desireable quality in a game?

    Some Thoughts...

I believe all of the lead designers have been around since 3.5, so it seems unlikely. The way they have been talking about 4th edition sounds like they are making real improvements to me, but of course we will need more details before we can really know.

D&D 4E Mearls on 4E being computer game: "It's more like online poker."

Lets see... 1. Both charge a subscription fee. 2. Both let you connect with old friends you haven't seen in a long time. 3. Both enable you to play games. 4. Both require you to have special equipment (phone/computer). 5. Nowadays, both incorporate the internet. 6. Both occasionally invalidate...

D&D 4E Mearls on 4E being computer game: "It's more like online poker."

While a lot of MMOs do this, subsciptions are neither a necessary not sufficient condition to be an MMO.

    Multiclass math

They could add levels within a progression without adding between them. That should be pretty simple. For example: With 1 level each of bard, rogue, wizard, and fighter, a character in 3e would have +1 BAB. If instead of doing BAB by class, we did it by progression, the bard and rogue would be...

    Multiclass math

    3/4 + 3/4 = 6/4 = 1.5 ~ 1 :p Edit: But I agree with your point. My group always plays it this way.

    D&D 4E Social interactions in 4E

Nothing; it's entirely possible that 4e will be published and turn out to be exactly identical to your current house rules. Role playing games are techniques, not technology, and as such you don't need to buy them to have access to their capabilities.

    Greatest Number of Editions?

It's not quite the same thing (there has been 1 major rules revision), but since replacing your current product is arguably more necessary in magic, it works well enough. Maybe even better.

D&D Game Table not Mac-Compatible at launch

I love terminal windows :D . I'd use linux if I didn't play computer games that needed windows.
