D&D 4E No more reprints of the 4E core books?

3.0 ---- > 3.5 you bought new books for updated rules. 3.0 not longer reprinted. Do you see analogies? I do.

Rise of the Runelords: Difficulty Level (Spoilers included)

I doubt they can match the fighter - but this is not the point, the two classes are just different (an an example, compare their saving throw, or monk's superior mobility). But I guess we should discuss it in another thread. The monk can do his job, anyway.

Rise of the Runelords: Difficulty Level (Spoilers included)

I realize that this would mean more work for the DM, but, if possile, couldn't they meet a friendly cleric NPC? This could bring in some heal and buff and make them able to defeat the challenges. They are only 3 PC, I think is fair. maybe Strenght and Heailing domain, see if is possible...

What would WotC need to do to win back the disenchanted?

I agree completely - even if one could find a justification for the designers: after a while, you used Fighter, Warrior, Knight... what name use for the next class? Well, ok, we will go with Warblade.. Actually, I wonder if mine is the real explaination, or there was an actual...

    D&D 5E (2014) Essentials: More like 3.9e than 4.5e (link inside)

In my opinion, the knight strong suggests that the main target of essentials is old gamers that didn't switched, and not newbies. Maybe I'm wrong, but these things or Magic Missle make me suspect this (not to say is right or wrong, just a consideration).

    I share this sentiment.

    3e Core Viability vs. 4e " Core " Viability

3e has a lot of core only potential, but is not rare that mechanics falls back behind the idea (see as an example, ho much you struggle to two-weapon-fight with a fighter core-only, compared to fight two handed). 4e is designed to assume you take "the next book" (in the above example, tempest...

What would WotC need to do to win back the disenchanted?

Ok! now I understood. I actually use either the descriptions basing on what the player is going to do (simply push back the enemy, or follow him with a 5 foot step to splat him on the wall). But I can see what you meant for different. Thanks! :)

What would WotC need to do to win back the disenchanted?

I would not call drop someone down on a cliff, or into the Black Tentacles "unconscious bullying". But whatever. Point was that 3.5 /PF CAN support these mechanics, even if I recognize the shield thing comes earlier in 4th. But we are going in circles here, maybe. I don't get it.. please explain...

Help with D&D 4e Webcomic Wanted!

"Hey Camelot, don't make it bad..." I'm pretty sure people here criticised constructively and advisd you to make you succeed! If the thing is in your mind, take it as a side-projecy, gather ideas, and when well inspired, DO IT!

Help with D&D 4e Webcomic Wanted!

If you talk about OOTS, an important question: In the cominc, will the charachters have meta-knowledge of the gameworld, in the same (or similar) way of the OOTS ones?

What would WotC need to do to win back the disenchanted?

OK.. tide of iron can do it better. Or least, can do it before. But this does not demostrates that there are things that 3.5/PF cannot do compared to 4th (the original point). You can say Tide>BR, not Tide>Shield Slam. And BR can be a good substitution if played smart. Moreover, once a shield...

What would WotC need to do to win back the disenchanted?

The feat came in 3.5. 4th edition came later - so designers were experienced and had more things to add to spells and effects. BUt my point was that 3.5/PF CAN support effect like this in spells, regardless of when they was first introduced. Some spell has feats "directly built into" like...

Which of these games would you rather play (and why)?

I voted 2, but mostly because is more likely to lead to games I love. But if well managed, I'm sure I'd play option 1 too.

What would WotC need to do to win back the disenchanted?

Fine.. but where is my wish? My point was not customization.. my point was what can do a particular edition compared to the other. Moreover, as a kid starting to play D&D, I got an interest in Genie legends because of the game. Even assuming possible a Wish ritual, currently a kid playing 4th...

What would WotC need to do to win back the disenchanted?

Point being, that 3.5 or its implements can support the things you said. Explosive Spell metamagic feat was not core, but spread around people hit by a fireball. Bullrush push people. Shield feats in pathfinder make S&B awesome AND make you fighter push and smash people. Simply put...

What would WotC need to do to win back the disenchanted?

If true, it would be quite odd: they had a lot of space for experimentation with the late 3.5 (just think to new subsystems like ToB). One should expect 4th edition like a fixed version, a sum of what came out to be the best, already experimented in 3.5. Does not seems to me that WotC...

What would WotC need to do to win back the disenchanted?

In case of suicide, I don't think HP apply. You are automatically coup-de-graced by the terrain.
