    D&D 5E (2014) Suggestions for new class

You must be swift as the coursing river. With all the force of a great typhoon. With all the strength of a raging fire. Mysterious as... ...the dark side of the moon...

D&D 5E (2014) Has anybody ever tried to integrate any live action scenarios for a campaign?

I would, but raising dragons and training them to attack the players at the table is a bit too time-consuming for my schedule.

D&D 5E (2014) How to generate a Potion Merchants Stock?

You might need some more common potions to even things out a bit with the rarer potions; you can try the ones that I included in my artificer project on DMsGuild. http://www.dmsguild.com/product/204687/THE-ARTIFICER-5e-Revised

    D&D 5E (2014) Good music for campaigning

The music produced by the composers of Square Enix for its fantasy RPG video games has enjoyed a reputation for iconic, moving themes. You'll find a grand plethora of epic scores for your campaign enhancement from their selection of albums, many of which can be purchased on the iTunes store...

D&D 5E (2014) making the Sorcerer an "Elementalist" - custom spell lists

I had written a 25-page document of thematic spell lists as part of my Magic Spell Cheat Sheets on DMsGuild, because people requested it so much. http://www.dmsguild.com/product/175969/DD-5e-Magic-Spell-Cheat-Sheets I'll be updating the whole thing with Xanathar's Guide spells over the next...

    5e spells

If the party can hunt some animals quickly, they might be able to jury-rig some furs for clothing. If you're open to third party materials, you can offer the players the 4th level spell Temperature Zone from this Artificer book on DMsGuild. If any of the PCs is a full caster, it'll probably...

    D&D 5E (2014) Magic Item Inheritance

You could make it a magic item that enhances roleplaying rather than offering mechanical advantage in combat or whatnot. That would only be useful if the current campaign is the type to offer ample opportunities for roleplaying though.

    D&D 5E (2014) Super Monk Jumps

Since they're not from the same source, I'd go with the multiplicative stacking rather than overlapped stacking. Plus, it'd be pretty cool to see what the player does with that. Go on and turn that super monk jump into a Super Mario jump!

    D&D 5E (2014) REALMSPACE Traveller's Guide - Preview Edition

A free preview of the upcoming Realmspace Traveller's Guide has been released on Dungeon Masters Guild! You can follow the author's progress updates on DMsGuild projects @JohnnyRPG on Facebook. REALMSPACE The Forgotten Realms setting primarily takes place on a planet called Toril...

D&D 5E (2014) The Nature of the Shield Spell

Only the first hit on which the player declared the intention to cast Shield matters for why Shield should always work to turn the hit into a miss or not be cast at all. If other attacks hit after the first hit is blocked, it's because the Shield didn't move fast enough to keep blocking more...

    D&D 5E (2014) making 5E more "old school" (updated)

If you really want to make it feel old school, you could always re-implement Thac0. B-):angel::angel::angel::angel::angel::angel:B-)

D&D 5E (2014) The Nature of the Shield Spell

According to the actual RAW, Fireball does NOT engulf an entire area simultaneously (it's an explosion that spreads from a point - the spell's text actually says this) and those within do NOT necessarily take equal damage (half damage on a save or less, reduced to zero on a save with Evasion).

    D&D 5E (2014) Jeweler's Skill? Got a player increasing value of treasure..what?

Crafting and selling takes significant time away from adventuring. If the PCs don't have any more pressing issues to attend to, or any higher priority objectives that they are personally pursuing, then it's one of many legitimate ways to play the game, a different KIND of adventure as it were...

D&D 5E (2014) The Nature of the Shield Spell

The argument counter to that is that if you get hit even with Shield up, then you never cast Shield in the first place, because Shield would have blocked that hit, so there's no point in holding back the roll result.

D&D 5E (2014) The Nature of the Shield Spell

If it's a floating shield that moves and turns to protect you, that could protect your back with the same AC bonus. The argument against surrounding field is that Shield doesn't block or even reduce area effects like Fireball.

D&D 5E (2014) The Nature of the Shield Spell

There was a debate on Facebook about how the Shield spell works and what it looks like. I thought that it would be worth sharing in forum. The Shield spell grants a +5 bonus to AC, cast when you are hit by an attack. According to Sage Advice, the caster should know the roll made for the attack...

D&D 5E (2014) Forgotten Realms - Deity Lore Pamphlet Updates! (KELEMVOR, MYSTRA, SUNE)

I've substantially updated three of the deity lore pamphlets in my ongoing Forgotten Realms pantheon project. Update notes have been posted on the download pages as well as at the end of each booklet. In case anyone is new to this series, they are lore pamphlets that combine researched...
