D&D Movie/TV Should the D&D Movie Been Serious or Not Called D&D?

In my opinion, it would not be universal if we take into consideration the actual people going to the movies, and the limited time and money they're willing to spend on theater going, especially in the age of streaming.

D&D Movie/TV Should the D&D Movie Been Serious or Not Called D&D?

10% of 40 is 4, and 10% of 60 is 6 so percentages aren't the same value for different box office takes, and the thresholds at which percentages are good or bad will differ depending on the actual value of the drop offs rather than the percentages (as well as the costs that have to be reclaimed...

Bishop is a hierarchical title/position. Cleric is a class of magic user. Priest is a vocation/profession.

D&D Movie/TV Should the D&D Movie Been Serious or Not Called D&D?

If week one is weak, then the largest amount of drop off could never reach the largest drop off that a strong week one could get. That's what the word potential used here means. It's just the reality of math. 10 can only go down by up to 10, while 11 can go down by up to 11 (an extreme example...

D&D Movie/TV Should the D&D Movie Been Serious or Not Called D&D?

By logic, if the week 1 proceeds are lower, the drop-off potential would also be lower for week 2, so a decent drop-off rate can actually result from starting at a low spot rather than having good legs into the next week. Stuff like this is why percentages and graphs can potentially be misleading.

D&D Movie/TV Should the D&D Movie Been Serious or Not Called D&D?

I think that it's worth noting that the Super Mario Bros. movie came out on day 6/7 of the HAT run, and that might have cut the legs down by a wide margin.

D&D Movie/TV Should the D&D Movie Been Serious or Not Called D&D?

A rough rule of thumb when calculating the net income from box office earnings is to cut the total in half, because the theater chains and the movie studios are not owned by the same companies. Marketing budget is also not counted as part of the production budget but added on top of it, so if...

D&D General D&D Book Prices Are Going Up

I think there would have been a much more positive reaction from the community if the price changes were more gradual, and if living wages (at least in the USA) weren't so fallen behind the pace of inflation over the past fifty years.

D&D 5E (2014) Stuck in Gehenna with you

If you decide to go the River Styx route, it can be a potential opportunity to send the PCs to hell and start Descent Into Avernus part of the way through with some adjustments. There is also the Infinite Staircase, if the PCs can find a city in Gehenna. Actually, if the Infinite Staircase is...

D&D General How many Short Rests do you routinely take?

If I were working on 6th edition years after 5.5e comes out, I'd remove the short rest mechanics and just simply have everyone have full hit points (hit points being treated as abstract wellness/toughness/luck and not as meat points) and fully replenished formerly short rest abilities at the...

WotC may have sent the Pinkertons to a magic leakers home. Update: WotC confirms it and has a response.

Thank you for the clarification, though you don't have to be snarky about it - I did do a google search so I wasn't 100% sure if the results was accurate, hence why I stated it was just me looking stuff up, why I iterated that I'm not a lawyer.

I'm just wondering why you'd bring up stuff like cocaine that isn't applicable in this situation, or imply that possession of the goods is akin to theft. It's a tad extreme.

WotC may have sent the Pinkertons to a magic leakers home. Update: WotC confirms it and has a response.

I did imply I wasn't a lawyer at the beginning since I stated how my limited view was based on looking stuff up on a search rather than spending years in law school, and made it clear I wasn't a lawyer at the end of my comment. On what you pointed out, some things still don't seem quite right...

WotC may have sent the Pinkertons to a magic leakers home. Update: WotC confirms it and has a response.

EDIT: I received some clarification about what I saw on a search, and I was very wrong in my interpretation. Again, not a lawyer and I'm glad somebody explained what was wrong. I looked up "unsolicited goods". Apparently (at least according to US law), receiving an unsolicited product from a...

WotC may have sent the Pinkertons to a magic leakers home. Update: WotC confirms it and has a response.

The violent reputation of the Pinkertons apparently goes way back to the 19th century, in which the US government's lawmakers had to pass a law into effect (limiting the government's hiring of PIs and mercenaries) in response to how bad things got when government officials hired the Pinkertons...

D&D General If A Noble holds 1 title per country in 2 neighbouring countries what can he do if those countries go to war?, after all no matter what he lose's

A lot of moving parts when it comes to feudalism disputes. For example, if the noble is a LANDED noble, then they have to take into consideration where their family is currently residing.

D&D General Creating a Pride Flag for my D&D setting

Arguably Jazirian's aspect was slain, not necessarily the main body. It can be surmised that Qotal filled in to watch over her followers on Toril while she recovered her strength, because there may be multiple worlds where Jazirian must spread her attention to. The World Serpent may be more of...

D&D General Creating a Pride Flag for my D&D setting

Just popping into the thread with a fun fact - the deity Jazirian, known as the patron deity of couatls and possible foil of good and wisdom versus the evil and cunning of Asmodeus, is canonically gender fluid, with male and female aspects in published history. The symbol of a couatl as such...
