D&D General Arby's branded polydice sell out in less than 2 hours

I had this conversation at my last session. Arby’s obviously provides the easy target here. But even if I think your brand has a particularly cool logo, I’m only getting your dice for show or to support. When it comes time to roll I just want my numbers.

    D&D 5E (2014) New D&D WotC survey! On classes.

I mean, you walk by a merchant and you see 50 bards that look just like me fighting over very complicated shirts, you roll bard. Yes you do.

D&D 5E (2014) Ability Score Increases (I've changed my mind.)

I know this isn’t to me, but the block immediately above this request is: This is untenable. Positing this (and your request for + response to character builds) relies entirely on your own adjudication. No number of years, games, or countries suffices as explanation for these claims, and it...

    D&D 5E (2014) Which played-out D&D trope needs to die?

Make it their attic and you could have the marauders still thinking that they're the ones with rats down below!

D&D 5E (2014) Ability Score Increases (I've changed my mind.)

I see the benefit, but I've fallen mostly in line with those that have landed on the +1 not being significant enough to be break anything in a vacuum. Especially when considering the relative ease of pushing max if one so desires, either with point buy or a single equivalent or better rolled...

D&D 5E (2014) Ability Score Increases (I've changed my mind.)

I suppose our divergence remains that I don't perceive (m)any of the "new" synergies to exceed default possibilities to the point that the existing power gap is widening instead of flattening. However, do you think there are any good examples of the inverse (ie: a combination whose offensive...

Ah, but as we are separately warned: We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be.

Bah, I see my loves colliding.

D&D 5E (2014) Ability Score Increases (I've changed my mind.)

None of these caricatures appeared here prior to the suggestion, nor has anyone really bought into them since, so I'm not sure you've set your sights on the right target here. And—given all that you've shared of what you do and don't pay attention to at your table—it comes across that you see 5e...

D&D General MTG Forgotten Realms excel readable Card List - all cards?

You could probably use Scryfall’s API to query for this and convert to csv for whatever Excel formatting you want: https://scryfall.com/docs/api Or, if querying isn’t intuitive enough, maybe download their bulk data and just pare down to what you need.

D&D 5E (2014) Balancing the ability scores and their contribution to different classes

I find this sort of design theorizing really fun. I don’t want to drag too much of the other topic over for you, but with 5e’s structure I’d extend this goal to racial traits as well (ie: something like Savage Attacks applying to all damage types rather than only benefiting melee classes)...

This is probably a better balance without having to go in and begin turning dials on the feats as well.

D&D 5E (2014) Ability Score Increases (I've changed my mind.)

This leans more toward a larger redesign, but what about taking some number of steps like: Modify point buy table to remove odd purchase options but retain point pool (essentially just limits current array possibilities). Swap racial ASI +2/+1 to just the +2 primary (or floating) Eliminate...

D&D 5E (2014) Blogatog: "[AFR is] looking to be one of the best-selling sets in the history of the game."

I hadn't seen this before, but this is super interesting! I have a fondness for the Tempest and Onslaught blocks especially. My playgroup has fallen out of playing anything more than cube recently, but I'll have to see if they'd be down to give this a go for me at least once.

D&D 5E (2014) Ability Score Increases (I've changed my mind.)

I think I'd oppose that extra cost step then I think, but perhaps that comes down to table style (frequency of combat encounters, # of ways to resolve otherwise, etc).

D&D 5E (2014) Ability Score Increases (I've changed my mind.)

I think lore depiction and media influence plays a big role here. Even if stats were somehow hidden, something like the aforementioned Firbolg Classes block in VGM starting with "Most firbolgs are druids, rangers, or fighters" would sway the overall percentage of play simply because of the way...

D&D 5E (2014) Ability Score Increases (I've changed my mind.)

I almost always have a few ideas bouncing around but tend to save settling on one until the rest of my playgroup offers up their own ideas so as to not step on any toes (or compliment them by locking toes together!). Those ideas are sometimes inspired by media properties I've crossed recently...
