    Do you use dungeons?

Like Khayman, I use 'non-dungeon' dungeons for dungeons  ; rarely do I send my players into catacombs or underground fortresses. Aboveground dungeons include mansions, towers, alleyways, ships, etc. My aboveground dungeons tend toward medium or huge, and my belowground dungeons are...

    Was I a jerk?

I ask two things of my players: 1) Don't challenge my interpretations of the rules during the game (unless it involves a character's life) - talk to me afterwards or during a designated break. 2) I am not a rules expert and will make mistakes - I am willing to learn and be corrected. I'm not...

What Unearthed Arcana variants have you used? What did you think of them?

Bloodlines, spell points, class and race variants, reputation. Especially the first two.

Do You Use the Core Pantheon?

My homebrew features a single Lawful Good diety. The non-evil Greyhawk deities as featured in Complete Divine and the Scarred Lands deities exist as saints - mortal raised to sainthood by God - which the people revere and attempt to emulate. Pelor and Heironious are quite popular, as is Enkili...

Tell me about a cool room in your dungeon...

I'm currently designing a dungeon for a low-level party. Here are some of the ideas which I'm thinking of including. I stole one idea from Return to the Tomb of Horror . The PCs enter an elevator. The doors seal and a small recess opens in the wall opposite the door. Inside the recess is a...

    No vampire giants?

I also ignore this restriction. I myself love the idea of vampiric mind flayers -although my players don't! I can only guess that if the template were applicable to any creature it would result is very odd or very powerful combinations - vampiric jellies and dragons. But then again, the CR...

Does anyone else hate the planes?

I don't use the planes all that often in my campaigns. I've retained the standard D&D cosmology, albeit with some alterations. There are the Heavens (the Good-aligned planes, Limbo and Mechanus), Sheol (the Evil-aligned planes, Pandemonium and Acheron), the Positive and Negative Planes (which...

What do you drink during games?

Lots of soda, sometimes iced tea. Rarely hot drinks. We usually save the alcohol for non-D&D games, or after the session. A couple of gaming friends drink their sodas flat. I think this is odd, although there are apparently a lot of people who do the same. Anyone here flat-soda-drinkers?

    What does it sound like?

When I read the word, I picture a mountainous region with deep valleys and bottomless glacial lakes. I'm going to say that it means 'wilderness', with an emphasis on it's pristine and untamed nature. The word strikes me as belonging to the Slavic language group.

Core rules only for character designs?

As a DM, my players are expected to adhere to the character creation rules of the PHB, DMG, CW and CD. However, I may offer alternatives from other sources. I'm curerntly preparing for to run an urban-based swashbuckling campaign in which I plan to offer certain race and class abilities from...

    Referendum on AD&D 2e

I voted 'YES', although I'd be more willing to play a one-shot adventure than an entire campaign. Why have French's when you can have Dijon? :)

How many of you would consider playing an older version of D&D?

I have no desire to revisit AD&D (I never played OD&D). I hate the mechanics, although I have fond memories of the adventures and the players. If I could recapture the feel of my first slain orc with d20 mechanics, I'd do so in a heartbeat. Alas, I've become jaded. :( That doesn't mean I...

    Help Me ReWrite Post-1910 History

A couple of thoughts from a Canadian perspective: WWI was an important instigator in the establishment of a Canadian identity apart from the British Empire. No Great War means Canada (and possibly the other Dominions and colonies) would retain a close attachment to Britain resulting in a...

What changes from 3.0 to 3.5 should *not* have been made?

My only real beef with 3.5 is the weapon size category. In my opinion, half a step back to 2e (where a weapon's damage dice depended on the size of the opponent). However, weapon size is easy enough to ignore, which I and my players do.
