Is your world round? Do the PCs know it.

The world of my campaign is round, roughly the size of Earth with a similar land-to-sea ratio. Since all adventures take place on a single continent (there are several continents, I just haven't bothered to flesh them out) the matter never comes up.

    Monster Manual III: Buying?

I thought about buying it, but the bills said otherwise :( I'm saving my money for Masque of the Red Death, Wizards' undead sourcebook and November's Complete Arcane.

What Alignment do you prefer to play?

I'm the same. The only time I'd play a Chaotic character is if its an outdoorsey-type, eg ranger. I never play evil characters (I like to be heroic) and I seldom play neutral characters.

Just going along with the DM

I usually go along with the DM because, like others have already said, I am usually the DM and am glad when the players go along with my plans. To make things easier on myself and my DM, I tend to play impulsive characters ready to partake of any sort of adventure which comes along. That being...

At what age did you start gaming?

I starting playing at 11. A couple of kids about my age played a game of their own creation which they called "aventure" (this was in Quebec, and they were French). It was a cross between D&D and the old King's Quest computer games. I hadn't even heard of D&D at that point, and they possibly...

    Calling All Canadians!

Born and partially raised in Montreal; moved to Waterloo, Ontario, where the rest of me was raised :P I did my undergrad in medieval history at UW, my MA in Elizabeth legal history at Laurier. I (somewhat) regret not having studied Canadian history to a greater extent than I did...

As a DM, which class do you wish your group played more?

Since the introduction of 3.0, I've only ever had one person play a rogue. His character was amasing; he perfected a combat technique in which he'd hide on the first round, attack (or sneak attack if within range) and then move out of the opponent's line of sight on the second, hide and move...

    Anyone know french? Crisis averted.

Perhaps 'vieillard'? It means 'old-timer' or 'old man'. While pops does translate into papa, and papa is overly familiar for a receptionist, it doesn't carry the same (derogatory) emphasis as vieillard, IMO. PS: I'm an anglophone, but one raised in Montreal/

    What's your dump stat?

Unless I'm playing some sort of divine spellcaster, which is almost never, WIS is my dump stat. Since I like to play impulsive characters, a low wisdom does make sense.

    Worst D&D products ever.

Hmm... Thoughts of Darkness (2e Ravenloft) The author, David Wise, apologised for the product on the Kargatane website. (To be fair to him, by the sound of it, he was forced to do a rush job which saw his initial idea totally revamped by TSR). A Light in the Belfry (2e Ravenloft) It came...

Which ability score can you not live without?

There's no ability in which consistently has a high score. I like to have a respectable CON (between 13 and 15 at creation, into which the first stat bump goes). If possible, I like a high INT (skill points, and I often play wizards) and CHA (since I generally play friendly characters). WIS...

    How tokien ruined modern fantasy

Warlord, please punctuate your posts. I know it's easier and faster to type without worrying about commas and periods, semi-colons and the like, but my tired old eyes need those breaks. (*sigh* I'm only 25 and already I have tired old eyes.)

tell me about your non-D&D campaign (a semi-poll)

I'm currently in a D&D campaign. In a couple of weeks, the D&D GM is starting a d20 Future campaign. In the past I've played Stargate and Spycraft. I've GMed D&D and Call of Cthulhu (both old school and d20) in the past and will again in the future. Right now, I'm toying with starting up a...

    Your favorite race?

Usually I play either humans or dwarves, although in a recent campaign I played an elf (until he died and I replaced him with a dwarf).

Want opinions on my Character Sheet!!

I like it. It's easy to read, easy on the eyes and easy to locate whatever it is you're looking for at any given moment. I especially like the artwork. There are two suggests I'd offer. First, you might consider adding a space to record gems. Second, perhaps another space or two for misc...

    Toronto gamers on here?

I don't live in Toronto but I visit the city on occasion to visit the UofT libraries. You might want to try the Hairy Tarantula on Yonge St. near Gerard St. (www.hairyt.com); you can probably find gamers through the store.

    Campaign Settings II

I voted for Ravenloft, although White Wolf/Arthaus has done a great job maintaining the setting. I'd also buying Planescape material on Sigil and I'd be interested in Birthright - but only to pilfer for my homebrew.

    3rd Edition Newbie Questions

I started playing D&D shortly after the advent of 2e, so I don't really know 1e specifics. That being said, I think I can answer your question. The class descriptions in 3e specifies those weapons and armour with which each class in proficient. For instance, the class description for the...
