    D&D 4E Ravenloft is alive in 4e

Ravenloft is very much so... active... in 4th Edition. I plan on using the mists very soon myself.

    A Question

I was thinking about chronicling my 4E game on the boards, where do I do that?

    Is DnD well-balanced?

Yeah, I have, but never a solo. To even get to half that level of damage you'd need a vorpal falchion with the Brutal 1 gloves (higher average damage because you're re-rolling half the dice) and a good crit or two (or three). Now if each person did that you'd get about 3/4's the health on a...

New Mearls Article - Skills in D&D

I'm not so certain about the skill talents, to be honest. Those could be quite flavorful and cool if done right, and I think it would be interesting to give a system like that a chance. Assuming that it doesn't already exist (and given my limited experience that means it probably does and I just...

Why is it a bad thing to optimise?

It isn't. It's all in the perception of what's going on, and to be able to recognize that something is not from the past but is in the present requires the m-word: maturity.

Why is it a bad thing to optimise?

Because then people start a troll war at the table. Because sometimes people can't handle the fact that you want to play a character well (assuming, as you said, that you're not being a jerk about it, and making a totally invincible character.) Either that or because you might have to leave the...

New Mearls Article - Skills in D&D

I don't know if I'd go that far, to be honest. I'd go a bit nuts if there was a whole plethora of resolution mechanics, as opposed to the one simple one. But then again I like all classes having AEDU's, and can very easily imagine how a fighter could have a level 29 daily, so maybe it's just me.

    Time for an all-pixie campaign

Particularly when this same girl hates the color pink and likes dark fantasy. But it seemed too good to pass up.

Why is it a bad thing to optimise?

I think the people who have issue with "competent" characters are the people who have had to run games for those who manage to make characters that are nigh invincible. When they see someone doing an even similar action they flip out because it's one step on the slippery slope of power gaming...

New Mearls Article - Skills in D&D

I like where this is going, to be honest. Having floating modifiers that you can assign to certain "types" of tasks without being attached to a specific ability is a very good thing, and something that they should do in the next edition (NOT that there is one coming out or anything like that...

    Time for an all-pixie campaign

When I asked my girlfriend if we could do "girly D&D" over the phone I got a stony silence. Women: they always destroy your dreams :.-(

Fantasy Flight Games officially has Star Wars license

I have enough Saga Edition RPG books to last me a lifetime, but I'll gladly look at the rest of their stuff!

    Time for an all-pixie campaign

May as well multiclass into Seeker so you can have tiny Tinkerbells swarm your foes too. I wonder if there's a spell that's the equivalent of a Carebear stare...

    Time for an all-pixie campaign

My thought on pixies? All we need is a unicorn race and then, with a little bit of re-skinning, I CAN FINALLY RUN A "MY LITTLE PONY CAMPAIGN"!! W00T!! Hell, we can even re-skin Healing Potions to "Friendship Rainbow Drinks of Happiness". Healing powers could be the direct power of LOVE! ...

    Is DnD well-balanced?

I've played a few epic games, with people who openly abused the system. I've seen some things that make CharOp people blush with shame, and have been DM'ing 4th since before it came out (put it together from all the previews and such), and I have never but NEVER seen someone one shot a solo. Or...

    The New Ultimate Spider-Man

That's what retconning the retcon's for. As far as the new Spidey is concerned, if he's a good character I'll like him. But I'm not holding my breath.

    The New Ultimate Spider-Man

Count me as one of the fans who is waiting for Joe Quesada to get fired, or removed from influencing my childhood idol.

    Pathfinder 1E D&D or Pathfinder?

I have a pretty heavy sense of nostalgia for 3rd edition, so I like playing Pathfinder, but 4th edition actually feels like it belongs in the fantasy genre to me. That being said if I was to play 3.5 again I'd do the E6 variant. As far as the basic setting goes I don't like the Great Wheel, and...

    Battlemind, Seeker, and Runepriest

Updates to Seeker: Can regain the "Homing Shot" (can't remember the exact name) encounter power more often at higher tiers. Upped the damaged of all encounter and daily powers by 1-2[W], depending on the power. All Seeker At-Wills are RBA's. The Seeker's "swipe back" encounter power was...
