Into The Fire!--Contrasting Analysis of 4E and 3.5E

I love 4th edition. Just do. It's far easier to DM the thing without House Rules, has better combat without getting rid of roleplaying. It allows for imagination. For instance: Last night I was DMing a game with a friend of mine, and we were fighting a blue dragon in an old dwarven stronghold...

    Disappointed in 4e

I don't know about the current debate about HP and such, but I do know there aren't too many HP built into the system. Apparently no one here has considered what a surprise round can do to people in 4th edition. I just got out of a 6th level session where ghouls got the drop on the PC's and...

    A Question about Multiclassing

Would it really unbalance things to not only let someone take a paragon path at 11th level but also let them swap out powers as per the paragon path alternative suck rule? So instead of choosing one or the other you just do both?

    The Nephilim of Nendiel

Changed defense bonus to Reflex, changed Angelic Grace to Purposeful Grace (restricing shifting to a minor action only when bloodied), which lowers the brokeness, but makes Angelic Blink even more powerful as a result. I don't know how it'll work yet, I suppose, but hey. Any thoughts now?

    The Nephilim of Nendiel

Good point about the shifting. How's about making it to where you have to choose one or the other at character creation, and then Angelic Flash being the end result either way?

    The Nephilim of Nendiel

No comments at all? If it's awful at least have the guts to say so, jeez.

    The Nephilim of Nendiel

This is the first draw up of the Nephilim race for my homebrew world, Nendiel. Try and give me a power check here, guys! Am I being too over the top? Nephilim Medium Creature Movement: 6 squares +2 Wis, +2 Cha +2 Insight +2 Religion Senses: Low-light vision. +1 Reflex Purposeful Grace: When...

    Homebrew World: Nendiel

Yeah, arcane magic is considered work of Asmodeus himself, and is usually ascribed to him by the general populace. The ultimate end of the stat choices is to give my players a wider range of things to stat out their characters. More'll be up, I'm gonna revert the halfling back and then...

    Homebrew World: Nendiel

Hey folks, My friends and I are making a campaign world out of a campaign that's starting to wrap up. We're calling it Nendiel. Here's the Wiki: http://nendiel.wikispaces.com/ The basic set up of the world is this: At one point this world was under attack by the Shadowfell which, under...

    Strength Paladin Build suboptimal?

I started with a Charisma Pally and quickly evened up my strength score so that way I could choose whatever powers I wanted. My reasoning? Charges use strength. Base attacks use strength. OA's use strength. When your strength is one of your lower stats this isn't a good thing. The charisma...

    A Dragon Ally?

What I'm planning on doing for the moment is this: Give them one fight where the dragon fully participates, and scale the xp encounter for it. We're talking about a devil army with two war devils, a pit fiend, and a hired on balor and elementals. The dragon draws the fire of the elementals and...

    A Dragon Ally?

Remind me to never ever say anything ever again. Jeez. Apparently I'm a walking bag of racism and never knew it. Anyway, yeah, the end game's comin up. I wish I could have the campaign go for much longer (like 5 years), but it doesn't work that way unfortunately. We have till the second week...

    A Dragon Ally?

Part of it is that he doesn't even know what to think of himself. He's been kept as sort of a "guard pet" by a cult for awhile, and never really enjoyed it. He only understands draconic, and the guards were careful not to use it around him. So he's been in an information vacuum, and has been...

    A Dragon Ally?

Hhhhm...the gyped thing I don't know, because the reference is so far removed from the original that I don't think it should offend anyway. The Indian Giver thing, though, makes more sense, since it's not as widespread. In defference I'll not use it again.

    A Dragon Ally?

That's a racial slur? I thought it more referred to some of the Native American gifts, where the people would give things, only to take them back at some point, hence the name Indian Giver. My father used to say it all the time, and it never came across as racist or hateful, nor was an...

    A Dragon Ally?

Wow! Thanks so much for the input! I probably should have told you more about the campaign.... The Material Plane has been divided into 3 mini-planes by the Shadowfell, named Realms, that still count as the same plane. The PC's found this dragon 15 miles below sea level (they traveled back...

    A Dragon Ally?

Alright, I've got a conundrum here. My party, instead of killing the CR 21 blue dragon that was supposed to mop the floor with them, succeeded in the skill challenge before the fight and made friends with the dragon, who wants to follow them around. The dragon had been trapped in a dungeon for...

    Ninja: Ki Controllers

Actually, this is my first attempt at any sort of homebrew at all on a board. The comments are useful, if not a little harsh at times. The usefulness I can stand. The harshness? We'll just say that I've been taught to give back ten times what I've been given, so it's been interesting holding my...

    Ninja: Ki Controllers

Added an encounter power, something just kinda came to me. I should have posted this when I first started this thread. THIS IS WHAT I MEAN BY NINJA: PRIMARILY MELEE WARRIORS OF WHO SET UP THE BATTLEFIELD IN SUCH A WAY THAT THEY HAVE THE ADVANTAGE. The above is not me shouting. The above...
