    Monte Cook back at wizards

That's probably close to the truth. 4e is pretty established but WotC needs to keep making money from the D&D franchise somehow. WotC would love love love to make products like collectible cards an integral part of D&D.

    D&D 4E 4e PC Upkeep Costs

There's a good reason for that. It is Machiavelli.

    Opinions--Heroes of Neverwinter FB game

Level 1 is a lot of fun. After that your teammates cost too much. But I did make it to level 10 by going with a solo (after level 1) cleric with some AoE ability (go go mighty dragonborn!) and healing myself between battles. Gold isn't really a problem anymore.

    Monte Cook back at wizards

I really like the 4e philosophy on game play (i.e. the game should be fun for everyone regardless of class or level) more than any previous edition and I hope Mike Mearls and Monte Cook don't screw it up.

    D&D 4E 4e PC Upkeep Costs

Men, arms, money, and provisions are the sinews of wars. But of these four, the first two are the most necessary; for men and arms will always find money and provisions, but money and provisions cannot always raise men and arms.

Do you Expect to hit Epic tier?

We've been playing since the game came out and we're level 13. We'll probably hit epic in a year or so. The question is, will 5th ed. come out first?

    Opinions--Heroes of Neverwinter FB game

So far, not bad. It's actually more fun at levels 1 and 2 because your party members are cheap enough that you can afford them (free at 1, cheap at 2). Eventually it becomes too expensive to field a full group of strangers and be guaranteed a return on your investment. Although, with the...

    D&D 4E 4e is Cool :)

Glad to hear you're having fun! I'm also glad your encounters make good use of terrain. The tactical combat is pretty awesome for an RPG.

You can also throw in a survivor's belt. Roll two death saving throws and keep the higher result.

What non-"essential" characters do you play?

I enjoy my Dragonborn Warlord. He rocks. Overall though, I like Essentials classes better than their core counterparts. I played the Warpriest and liked it very much. I switched from a Barbarian to Essentials Slayer. I used to play a pre-essentials Rogue but if I had to do it again I'd play the...

    New Power Source

The problem is it's unique and distinctive enough for one class. You can't make an entire power source for one class. Well, I suppose you could but there would be little point because arcane can already cover that.

    New Power Source

Time isn't a source of power though. It's something to be manipulated by power. Arcane manipulates time via magic. Primal via nature... perhaps by speeding up or slowing down natural phenomena. A godlike martial artist would appear to move so fast that time seemed to stand still from his...

Why Organized Play has been an Awesome Experience

I've had a good experience with D&D Encounters. Too bad your organizer flaked out on you.

    New Math and Minions

When you do this and the PCs get into trouble, are you ever tempted to say "Elf needs food badly."

    Do we need a Leader?

You are correct. The rules state "On a result of 20 or higher, he or she can spend a healing surge." (italics mine)

Pathfinder 1E Could Pathfinder take D&D's place...

You really think 70-80% of the people that played older editions of D&D prefer Pathfinder to 4e? I have my doubts. Tons of players play 4e. They can't all be new to the genre.

Sell the fluff, pimp the crunch

I like the way it is now. I buy the books because they're better for browsing new crunch so I can get a good idea of what's out there and toss it over in my mind a bit before attempting to use it. When I go to actually build my characters I use DDI because its easier than using pencil and paper...

    Do we need a Leader?

I discovered another way everyone can get self heals if they build for it (i.e. 13 wis). It is a bit risky. Feat: Disciple of Death Equipment: Haunted Armor, Periapt of Recovery

    Do we need a Leader?

First of all, everyone has 2nd wind. So that alone counters your argument. Second of all, every character has magic items. Third of all every character has utility powers. If you plan on not having a dedicated healer you can compensate for it. Ideally every party would have a leader but it is by...
