[Planescape poll 2] What makes up the elusive Planescape "feel"?

Speaking as a guy who's never played an official Planescape game, I'm gonna say the feel of it, and Sigil specifically. I love urban settings and campaigns, and Planescape really has that metropolitan feel. You could have an entire campaign and never leave it. Also, with so many threads about...

    Art theft & copyright violation?

See, in the old days, larger companies had legbreakers for precisely this sort of thing. WOTC needs to get a few of their Martial classes together, if they have any.

what do you think about this decision I made?

Yeah, I hear ya. Everybody wants to be like Wolverine on the X-Men, or Batman on the Justice League. Or they want to be like the main character at the table, apart from the "team" and above their petty struggles. If you're gonna make a lone-wolf, make someone who is ultimately worse off from...

what do you think about this decision I made?

Speaking as a guy who loves lone-wolf characters, who loves chaotic neutral, who likes the evil alignments if they're done well, I hate guys like the guy in the OP's post, who screw it all up. All too often people describe their characters as edgy or loners, but they don't want to go anywhere...

Why is there no Flash Gordon RPG?

Because he's just a man. He can never fail.

    Concept Help - Duelist

Over on the Pathfinder forums, some guys discovered that if you tweak the Gunslinger class, it actually makes a very nice Swashbuckler. Personally, I always pictured a Rogue/Bard combination as working rather well. That dashing smile as you're suckerpunching the guys guarding the princess, y'know?

    Concept Help - Duelist

I fully endorse your desire to create a Zorro class. The whole thing about Errol Flynn, is that he's all over the place when he fights. He isn't just swordfighting you, he's running around, he's jumping up stairs, he's cutting down chandeliers, he's zigzagging through hordes of enemies and...

DM needs some advice a about a serious mistake....

As power players, do they like to be challenged? You could have one or two sessions where they just absolutely dominate everything because they're angels, get them thinking, "Aww yeah we gangsta", when all of a sudden BOOM the third session is some sort of insanity run. Or, you could just be up...

Maneuverability ratings for aircraft and space craft

Yeah, but there's a difference of levels between the stone dagger and the Holy Avenger. And, y'know what, maybe the same difference of levels could be applied to the Star wars ships. Ha ha ha, nevermind.

    Imperfect Heroes

Celebrim, you know I love your posts, but I'm not sure I agree with this part, right here. Heroes do have flaws, they can have real vices, same as anyone else off the street. But a hero is someone who can overcome that vice most days. He can overcome his desire for vengeance or bloodlust, he can...

Maneuverability ratings for aircraft and space craft

Because if this is a game that somehow, inexplicably has both modern earth aircraft and Star Wars ships(maybe this is a Planescape or a Sliders situation), I would hope that there's incentive to use either or. Otherwise, if Timmy can only afford an old Apache helicopter, but Butch can afford a...

    Critique my alignment handout!

I'm not gonna derail this sucker, but I will say that you'd be very, very surprised.

Maneuverability ratings for aircraft and space craft

I was disagreeing with you in my head until I thought of most starship's ability to hover and stop on a dime. Maybe for sake of game balance, though, they're not more maneuverable, but they can be taken into the vacuum of space, where maneuverability isn't really as huge a factor?

    Critique my alignment handout!

Ahh yes, Keith Ledger. The younger and unassuming third cousin of ultra-famous deceased actor Heath Ledger, of Dark Knight fame. Who could ever forget Keith? :p Anyway, ribbing aside, this is a very interesting post, thank you for making it. And it's making me think. Namely, about slasher...

    Imperfect Heroes

I'm going on an Angel run right now, so I'd have to say Angel. I like his quest for redemption, I like that because of what he is, he tries to fulfill the whole silent stoic role that everybody knows. But because of who he is, that doesn't always work. I like that he's in some ways stuck in the...

    Critique my alignment handout!

I'm sad that the actions of a few have banned my favorite alignment from so many tables. It's a very versatile alignment. My current Barbarian in my friend's Pathfinder game is chaotic neutral, because he only has one goal that he cares about, only one plot hook that really motivates him. He...

No, we personally like high stats. But if someone wanted a low stat, they easily could obtain one.

The Arena. One on one combat...while everybody else watches.

That would be hilarious. The players are just the CliQ, running roughshod on fools like a heel faction. That actually would be a really interesting way to go about it.

The Arena. One on one combat...while everybody else watches.

Hi. This is pretty much a tabletop problem, but it could be a problem with skype sessions or other, non-forum or non-chat based games. A few years back, my buddies and I wanted to make a pro wrestling game, and have a whole campaign of us climbing to the top. We were having fun figuring out...
