    D&D 5E (2014) Earthquake Spell Question

That's what it looks like to me, too. I don't find anything in Errata or Sage Advice Compendium that states otherwise. Damage to a creature on any spot where a fissure opens who fails the Dexterity check would simply take the falling damage for the 10-foot drop, but it doesn't look like the...

Lord of the Monsters: New Warlock patron (based on new Ranger playtest)

Intriguing, especially in the twist where the PC doesn't gain the Otherworldly Patron Features after the Expanded Spell Lists and the Pact Boon beastie itself. I think you may be onto something here.

D&D 5E (2014) Two monk Ways I need help bringing to fruition

Can we cobble together something that uses some of dmnqwk’s and bedir than’s notions, along with an idea of mine? Let’s take a look at it: The Way of the Blind Monk Some people are born blind. To others it comes about through disease or misadventure. To the former, it is natural to take it in...

D&D 5E (2014) Two monk Ways I need help bringing to fruition

"The Way of the Unseeing" If Marvel's Daredevil was a D&D character, this would be where we'd find him.

    QB's Monstrous Races

Comment 1: I wish I didn't have to get to work, because I want to examine these more. I like what I'm seeing, even if a bit bemused by some of it. Dread Genasi? How does that compute given the Elemental basis for the race? Comment 2: Unfortunately, I have not seen your threads before, although...

    Filling out the missing dinosaurs

Looks like I was preaching to the choir. Mentioning that you'd used the MM wolf to guide your velociraptor development nudged a memory off of an old, dusty shelf in my brain. It doesn't apply directly to this thread, but years ago someone in something I'd read (so much for accurate...

    Filling out the missing dinosaurs

First of all, I like and appreciate your work on these. About the calculation of CR, I share your frustrations. In the "good ol' days" (cue the sarcastic laughter) XP took the role that CR does now. Lots of XP simply equaled Tough Monster. CR, which takes into account a more complicated...

    Cleric Domain: Cold

A new thread was just posted for a similar Domain. I like the comparison/contrast between the two variations, as being like the differences one might find between competing religious traditions. Here's the link: Read more...

    Cleric Winter Domain

This brought to mind a similar offering from a posting from some time ago: Read more: http://www.enworld.org/forum/showthread.php?459537-Cleric-Domain-Cold#ixzz3dJtilwmr There are enough points of comparison and contrast to provide some nice flavoring as might be found between differing religions.

[5e] Druid Circle of the Rat Swarm. Feedback needed

Pigeon Swarm! I love it! Some people describe them as flying rats anyway.

[5e] Druid Circle of the Rat Swarm. Feedback needed

If you're running a Gritty Realism campaign, that changes my perspective, and you're right. Your modification here makes more sense. That 14th-level druid, sacrificing 11 hit points and doing 11d4 poison damage, is a lot more manageable. Another consideration is that, beginning at 4th-level, a...

[5e] Druid Circle of the Rat Swarm. Feedback needed

Another thought: Since the druid can wild shape into Large creatures beginning at 4th level, you might also consider working that into the Circle features. A Large swarm of rats could attack multiple targets and/or use larger damage dice.

[5e] Druid Circle of the Rat Swarm. Feedback needed

Your English is without a doubt far superior to my competency in any language other than English. I really like the concept you came up with here for your friend. I can just imagine the reaction around the gaming table the first time Vile Eruption makes its appearance.

[5e] Druid Circle of the Rat Swarm. Feedback needed

1d4 poison damage per hit point (your original wording) would become 55d4 (66 - 10%) poison damage in your example here. Yes, that would be too high. If you feel like rolling that many d4s - hoo boy!. Consider increasing the size of the damage die, instead. That will do more to balance it...

[5e] Druid Circle of the Rat Swarm. Feedback needed

Professor, I took the liberty of bringing the language more in line with the official texts. I hope you don't mind. Druid of The Rat Swarm Circle of the Rat Swarm Improved Swarm At 2nd level you gain an ability to wild shape into a Swarm of Rats, as a bonus action. This swarm has its...

[5e] Druid Circle of the Rat Swarm. Feedback needed

re Vitriolic Explosion (level 6). Per the description in Vitriolic Blessing (level 10), it appears that the poison damage should be 1d4 per Hit Die, not 1d4 per Hit Point. Whew! Much more reasonable damage with that clarified. All that gore ... impressive - and totally gross! I'd insist on...

DnD books (not settings) of older editions that are useful regardless of edition!

3E Hero Builder's Guidebook For the backstory geeks among us, the best assist for creating a family history, both current and ancestral, that I know of. Kindred in spirit to the 20 Questions in Legend of the Five Rings, except better. One time, establishing a few details about the wood-elf...

    D&D 5E (2014) The fighter's Indomitable ability

Imo Indomitable is good as it exists because it describes an extraordinary ability that is not easily come by. It is there for truly heroic moments, where the fighter may be able to overcome an assault that other classes only get one chance at saving against. I like the gritty, dramatic aspect...
