D&D 5E (2014) What do you about dead levels in multiclassing?

Seeing how it was a feature stapled on with almost zero testing you kinda have to modify it for a given table regardless.

    D&D 5E (2014) Requesting help building a barbarian

Then there's actually a lot of interesting barbarian concepts as long as you avoid the more damage trap. A bugbear zealot wth alert and skulker would a blast and would fit the "I don't like spiders" theme

D&D 5E (2014) Should I keep shield prepared on an enchantment Wizard with instinctive charm?

I'll go against the grain a little and say you could probably live without shield. Goblin wizards have a ton of as avoidance already and between Gaze and charm you have plenty of options if that fails. Saying that wizards can prepare so many spells it would be difficult to not prepare it.

    D&D 5E (2014) Requesting help building a barbarian

It could definitely use some scaling but that's barbarian problem in a nutshell. Even zealots extra damage starts falling off around that point. Your average challenge starts to have more targets and weapon attacks volume has capped out or you are seeing CRs with both higher HP and secondary...

    D&D 5E (2014) Requesting help building a barbarian

That's fair. Randomized features has a strong love/hate factor for individual or even tables. For me it was the only non hyper niche barb I've played (like the AG archer or beast XCOM fighter) that didn't grow stagnant by lv ~8.

    D&D 5E (2014) Requesting help building a barbarian

None of the wild magic options are that bad either and leads to making different choices than the usual barbarian action tree which is basically a line. They also actually get a usable non combat feature at level 3 that isn't tied to rage use. At lv 6 they get another non rage feature that is...

    D&D 5E (2014) The Printers Can't Handle WotC's One D&D Print Runs!

It wouldn't be unusual for WoTC for this to be the case. Seeing how the still have a fairly active public playtest going on and ~6 months is the minimal normal lead time needed for large print runs that window is basically gone. They also tend to reserve the right to make changes between runs...

D&D 5E (2014) Cloner's Corner: I'm thinking of going two attacks per action at level 1.

It's not just the extra attacks. it's the extra attacks combined with the fact that it will takes more attacks to overcome the threshold in which combat would end. You're not just adding actions you're adding total rounds which means more spells, status effects, and other potential delving into...

D&D 5E (2014) Cloner's Corner: I'm thinking of going two attacks per action at level 1.

Honestly combat is slow enough so adding in more attacks in the progression just to have the target AC to shift in response seems like it might be the wrong direction.

    D&D 5E (2014) Flying PCs

To be fair artificer do get flight via infusions just a bit later.

D&D 5E (2014) Keith Baker Presents Closing Doors On Eberron

I'm not arguing the forgotten realms is new. Also I'm not the expert on the forgotten rounds because I hate kitchen sink settings but wasn't it not technically attached until the times of troubles and under that model every prime plane has its own ethereal plane that coincides with it? A new...

    D&D 5E (2014) When Did 5E Peak Quality Wise?

It seems odd because it is lol. It's hard to value the quality of any single product/publication so I use a "tell". It will interesting to see how much the OGL thing ripples. I predict that the 3PP will continue to go strong in spite of WoTC sabotaging itself. It's a good system that's fun to...

    D&D 5E (2014) When Did 5E Peak Quality Wise?

My personal metric in this matter is dependent on the quantity and diversity of third-party material. A system's quality is shown in the willingness for others to invest into it.

D&D 5E (2014) How do you set DCs?

Aye for one and done checks they are brutal for anyone who doesn't go all in.

D&D 5E (2014) How do you set DCs?

I set it from the 8-16 range depending on circumstances then subtract 2 because the D20 is too heavy.

D&D 5E (2014) Keith Baker Presents Closing Doors On Eberron

The MTG settings existed prior to the Next playtest by nearly a decade. I can't see how that is new by any stretch of the imagination nor is the Ethereal Plane or cities in it. It's a woven in part of FR cosmic wheel. All this is is Planescape with a different name for the city without any...

D&D 5E (2014) Keith Baker Presents Closing Doors On Eberron

And the first two are rehashed magic the gathering content and 3rd is explicitly a setting neutral collection of individual plots that can be used as something more but it is also located within an established plane of the forgotten realm so also not a new setting. The critical role contents...

D&D 5E (2014) Keith Baker Presents Closing Doors On Eberron

Settings transcend system which is the entire point by looking at a single system publication of official content for it is a pointless metric. The fact that many fans are looking at the author rather than the publisher is a very strong indication of the presence of that setting rather than...
