    Dragon Reflections #89

This is a VERY strong issue indeed! the cover & creepy & strange & cool Ed Greenwood's shields are much needed...even if not that great, D&D has always had a horrible lack of cool magical shields, and still does to this day! His attempt to begin to address that defect thus can only garner...

"The cover is by Denis Beauvais and depicts a pair of knights battling on a multi-level chessboard." I liked this one a lot too "Ed Greenwood presents "The Ecology of the Slithering Tracker," offering fresh insight into this underutilized predator. Delivered as the notes of the wizard...

"This month's cover is by Clyde Caldwell, and it is a personal favorite." same here! "In "Featured Creatures," Gygax shares stats for the Baku and Phoenix. The baku, a psionic elephant-like creature, was last seen in AD&D second edition, but the phoenix has become a staple monster." they made...

D&D 5E (2024) Martials: damage scaling like cantrips?

i need to apologize, i now noticed i am responding to 2024 tagged stuff, and I never ever wanted to do that...no wonder it's 2024 oriented. My bad, and sorry to all. You can like what you like, of course, I thought I was in 5e discussion. sorry!

D&D 5E (2024) Martials: damage scaling like cantrips?

is it? one cannot even look up stuff online without the 2 games being mashed together. They truly sabotaged 5e like no prior edition ever was before. Nasty stuff or talk about it...as evidenced above with 2024 analytics spewed to counter very basic 5e observations. I'm pretty sure I'll be gone...

D&D General [rant]The conservatism of D&D fans is exhausting.

I had no idea what filter I was circumventing, or that there even was one. Knowing there is, now, I'll probably just leave*...and suggest you lot "watch your censorship & authoritarian tendencies, getting a machine to censor for you earns you the same total disgust & disregard it does when a...

D&D 5E (2024) Martials: damage scaling like cantrips?

2024 doesn't count as 5e...I wasn't, nor am ever referring to it, unless I specifically say so...and don't care anything about it; no offense. 5e is 5e 2024 is 2024 WOTC needs to burn in hell forever for their vile attempt to make them the same thing/to kill 5e with this filthy naming trick...

D&D 5E (2024) Martials: damage scaling like cantrips?

I did something like that as a house rule change in B/X...but it was for anyone. The extra damage die varied by class, well, their THACO actually, when it improved 3/4/5 levels for fighters (inc. dwarves, elves & halflings)/clerics & thieves/magic-users. fighters et all added a d8 each bump up...

D&D General [rant]The conservatism of D&D fans is exhausting.

While your rant applies to some, maybe even many, 2024 is utter poop, and nobody needs to love poop just because it's newer. Indeed people should just play older editions(including 5th, which the vile 2024 tries to poison by refusing to have a name! worst edition EVER) hopefully WOTC/Hasbro tank...

AD&D 1E Should Gold Dragons always be LG and Black Dragons always be CE?

sometimes, yes. A couple I change the baseline for/permanently, one being the black dragon you mention. 1e MM " They tend towards the mid point between law and chaos in their evil." I make them out as being Neutral Evil

    Dragon Reflections #64

ok, the assassin article is ok, for what it is, but naw, I came up with as much or better w/o it. The specific guild rules/example are not at all my cup of tea/a bit silly

    Dragon Reflections #64

I do not think I'd call it a substantial issue, as it lacks a stand out article. It was fine at the time, but it's not one I visit anymore. The weapons, & powerful angelic monsters do deserve note, and the bits on Greyhawk/Raxivort are of solid historical note though. I've run assassin/guild...

    Dragon Reflections #63

"A shifty character for your campaign" by Tom Armstrong and Roger Moore introduces the Bandit NPC class. The result is like a fighter/thief with a few of the ranger's outdoor skills thrown in. However, it's not very interesting compared to some of the NPC classes in previous issues." many...
