    Beastmaster Ranger up

Hmmm... Check the area of effects... There's: Melee beast 1. (I'm assuming this is the beast's attack area?) Melee weapon (beast 1) (Does this mean BOTH in your area and the beast's area?)

Well really, you mean that there's no demand for it. But I disagree. Dungeon's Adventure Path series revived the magazines and made it possible for Paizo to exist as it's own entity. They had a legitimate hold on half of the D&D populace as far as I can tell. The demand is there, I think.

Shackled City was a HUGE dungeon crawl. HUGE. I didn't realize how huge until I actually ran it. But there was ample story potential as well. To be a quality adventure, you need to hit both story and combat. Paizo Dungeon did it by fleshing out their town areas, RP opportunities in...

But why? The people at WotC have entirely changed since 3e. Is it something about the corporations culture that makes it hard to inject story? I find that really hard to believe. Aren't half of these authors freelancers who work in and out of WotC anyways? Is it that the editing process...

4e is starting to drive me crazy. I love the 4e rule books. But I keep waiting for the adventure or campaign book that will make me go: Oooooooooooooh. Keep on the Shadowfell is okay. It's better than Sunless Citadel was. But it's no Life's Bazaar. Villains in 4e seem to be the ones with...

    Agricola

I have this game and I love it. Strategically very intense, yet easy to understand and explain. Also it's playable in a fairly short amount of time. I'd really like to try it with more than two players, but I've never found the opportunity. My wife (not someone who likes boardgames) tolerates...

P1 King of the Trollhaunt Warrens Excerpts

The new will-o-wisp is awesome. I love it. The abilities just exude evil, evil, evil. Waits around for an opportunity, goes in for blood. And then ZIP. It's gone. Fantastic.

D&D 4E Running player commentary on PCat's 4E Campaign - Heroic tier (finished)

Such items would provide a little help, but the default armors tend not to solve the problem of an unconscious PC. When you're unconscious, you don't have the actions to necessary to spend the healing surge. Haven't had a chance to look at the alchemy stuff much, but healing potions would...

    [Bioshock] Explain something to me

Hehehe. I'm not going to spoil Bioshock, so I'll leave it to you whether I'm laughing at the irony or the original joke. I never play shooters, but I wasn't having any particular problem with Bioshock in terms of difficulty. Sure, ammo was a little tight. But that just is there to keep you...

Martial Power - What do you hope to see?

Gonna add my voice to the chorus of lots of feats. Shield use feats. Weapon specific tactics feats. NO ITEMS. We have Adventurer's Vault. We have Adventurer's Vault 2. I hope they don't water down every book by trying to include some of everything like they did with 3/3.5e. Paragon...

D&D 4E Running player commentary on PCat's 4E Campaign - Heroic tier (finished)

I have a ranger and a paladin in my campaign. Along with the cleric. So, I can answer this for you. Not even close. That's not to say that they won't survive. A good DM can always keep his players alive one way or another. And good players can always pull something out of their hats. But...

I said "No" when I should have said "Yes".

Screw this say yes thing. There is almost nothing worse than the "Harvester" player. Hey, I killed a monster? Can I harvest its organs and turn them into poison? There's poisonous spikes at the bottom of the pit? Well, I guess I gotta climb down there and get the poison off... Fungus...

D&D 4E Running player commentary on PCat's 4E Campaign - Heroic tier (finished)

It's going to be hard for the players without a leader (though maybe that's the NPC's class). I have two strikers in my campaign, and while they certainly can dish out the damage, eventually they will eventually lose the initiative badly enough to get somone knocked unconscious. At that...

    Weird political systems

I think it was Douglas Adams who proposed this form of government, but it works perfectly well in D&D (where there are plenty of large monsters to go around). In essence: Giant lizards are elected by the people to rule. Upon election, the giant lizard terrorizes the populace until the end of...

Were the Player's Handbook Power Cards cancelled?

So, I saw on a release calendar at one point that Wizards was planning on releasing Player's Handbook Power Cards in Jan 2009. But it doesn't seem to be on the Wizard's release schedule on their website (anymore?). It's not on Amazon either, but I see that other items like Dungeon Delve...

    DDi News

Yeah, I understand that. Niche products cost more. Fine. I've been paying through my nose for D&D stuff for a while now. I'm used to it. The Rules Compendium is useful... Once there's more stuff out. Right now, they have this ONE BOOK that pretty much has the same details in a nice...

    DDi News

Sadly, I think I probably won't subscribe. Looking at the rates, they seem similar to Xbox Live's rates. So, I can't help but compare what I would get out of the two services. The digital magazines are good, but the apps side is just not there at all... It's all promises of future delivery...

Those Barnes & Noble Membership Cards

I have the B&N card. It's paid for itself in the sheer number of children's books I buy for my son. Then again, I say they're for my son. Actually, they're for me and my wife... I can only stand reading Dot the Firedog so many times before I go crazy.

TSR Example from the worst TSR adventure module(s) ever published

Hahaha! I love it. This stuff is poetry. Hark, for brigands approach. And upon them shall not be the signs of the peasantry. When the players ask them, "Art ye not acrobats?" The brigands shall say, "Nay. We are not." Tarrying, they shalt go without expression toward the Greate Olde...
