    KoTS Creepiness (Spoilers)

Actually, I intend to have a haunting vision at the Keep entrance (played like a trap... +6 vs. Will, 2[W] damage): You see a man in shining armor standing over a cradle. He turns around at your approach, and you notice that his steel gauntlets are dripping in blood. "I'm sorry," he cries as...

Stealth in combat. Evidence and advice.

I looked around... Are you talking about this CSR? That does seem to indicate that you can stealth INTO concealment. Wow that is going to happen alot. Warlocks are pretty nasty then. 1 + 2 implies that warlocks should pretty much always be hidden. I'm assuming that after the 3 movement...

Stealth in combat. Evidence and advice.

The thread was unfortunately inconclusive. The original post provides a conclusion to some of that discussion. Specifically, whether or not combat advantage is received for hiding.

Stealth in combat. Evidence and advice.

I'm fairly certain that you need to be in cover/concealment at the START of your action in order to make a Stealth check. There was a CSR response on that one (whether it's accurate is anyone's guess).

Stealth in combat. Evidence and advice.

There is no elevation advantage in 4e. It was a stupid rule anyways because "ON A TABLE" has become the classic example of where you get that bonus. And there is no way that a person standing on a table is going to be at an advantage in combat. Don't think of it as going into "Stealth" as per...

Stealth in combat. Evidence and advice.

When someone stealthily does something, there is an opposed perception roll. You may actively take a *standard* action to make another check. You can stealthily perform a minor action, yes. But there isn't a ton of point in stealthily dropping a longbow. Stealth ISN'T a state of being...

Stealth in combat. Evidence and advice.

Interesting. Unsure what the official word is on this, but I guess I would agree for now.

Stealth in combat. Evidence and advice.

In combat, you don't use passive perception checks. I'm pretty sure the books are clear about that already. Only when the opponents are distracted or unaware. Plus, in the section on finding hidden targets, it states that you can use a standard action (IIRC) to make an active Perception check...

Stealth in combat. Evidence and advice.

There's been a bit of debate on this forum about how Stealth in combat is supposed to work. I now have found something which indicates what the designers intended. It's a tidbit in Keep on the Shadowfell. I'll try to keep this thread spoiler-free, however. There are creatures in the...

Lead the Attack vs. solo monsters: unbalancing?

It's a daily. Daily powers are strong. Plus, it requires the player to really weaken their warlord in order to accomplish it (18 int is *not* cheap). You could have spent those points on Str... But since you didn't, that Str vs. AC attack is probably going to suck. Especially against a Solo.

    Stealth in Combat

Bump decause this part of the rules is seriously screwed up. And I can only hope someone with more detailed knowledge of how this is supposed to play might take pity on us and see it.

    Stealth in Combat

So, there is no reason NOT to do this every time you land on something that provides concealment or cover. Everytime you duck behind a boulder, you might as well try to hide because there's nothing to lose and it costs no actions? That would be incredibly annoying for everyone involved...

    Feats and Skills by Stat

So as long as the arcane classes decide to go more martial, there isn't a problem? :-/ 3.5e core had way more arcane feats than this. This is what you get when you put Mr. Iron Heroes on the design team. I can only hope PHBII will have the arcane details, yeah. But they haven't said...

    D&D 4E 4E Sample Combat: The Terrasque

We can rebuild it. Stick a template on it and the Terrasque can come back as the Lichesque! And then it will be invincible! Muahahaha!

    Fourth Edition just feels... incomplete

I agree 100%. I bought pretty much all of the 3e and 3.5e books. Because I'm a D&D collector at heart. But I virtually never played with anything beyond the core rules. The PHBII was such a good book, that I eventually added that to my list of "core" as well, but it wasn't immediate. 4th...

Why do potions heal a static number?

Two reasons: (1) Because spending your action to heal your ally, and then having it do nothing isn't fun. It's annoying. (2) Because the D&D designers finally considered the implications of their rules to computer versions of D&D. Randomized potion drinking and randomized hit point gain...

    Single player playtest report.

Was this a special rule for single player play? You can't take actions while you are unconscious, so you normally can't take your second wind after you hit 0 hp...

    The economy of Milestones?

The whole point of milestones is to provide a mechanic which lengthens the standard adventuring day. Daily powers refresh every day. So, if the party is on a long-term journey, there's never really an issue with them having the resources to continue. They're always full up on powers and...

    Power sources. What's the point?

See, I guess my problem with it is that it's such an obvious keyword that could be used for prerequisites. You want that feat? You need to have a martial/arcane/divine power source. That seems to make sense to me (except for perhaps in the multiclassing case). Fighters, warlords, and...
