Classic Dungeons: all of them to exist in the new edition

No, I'm cool, I'm just being my oddassed-self. I dig both "styles" of module (plot-heavy & plot-light) a lot anyways, but I like the more open-ended modules for the players that I was used to having around that would go just about everywhere but where you planned for them to go.

    D&D is Unfun [humorous troll]

I remember reading about an early Sumerian tablet that spoke about "The days of yore." The days of yore? DOODS, pot? Kettle? :p

Classic Dungeons: all of them to exist in the new edition

No, that's not really the intent at all. It really varied on the module. But largely most modules of the "classic-era" certainly had protagonists who had not-so-healthy designs on the friendly inhabitants of the local environs, but the modules (mostly) didn't come out and say "ZOMG! ZOMG! BAD...

    opinion on 2 adventures, pls!

IIRC, they both do, and the maps of the Caves of Chaos are pretty much the same from the original. Some of the monster factions from the first (such as the orcs) are removed (killed off in interspecies combat), but if the players never played through the first one, no one would know the difference.

Classic Dungeons: all of them to exist in the new edition

It's in the sense that classic modules were more open-ended, and in that way "modular." If you needed some castle, or some ruin to drop in your own "Fantasy Adventure Milieu" because you mentioned some dungeon over the hill off-hand at 2:30 A.M. on your last session, and the players say "Let's...

The Shared Experience: Keep on the Borderlands

I had the Geomorphs, but not the MTA. Now I have both, and am sorely tempted to try it out!

    opinion on 2 adventures, pls!

RttKotB is ok. The map's pretty much the same, they named the NPCs (!), and added some plot to it. Beware of evil NPCs playing strip chess though. Castle Amber I love the hell out of. A DM who runs it with wit and verve can get a lot of mileage out of it. That RPG.net's review was a little too...

    Points of Light

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, funnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn! It was the perception that I had from the original FR boxed set, and really what I was given growing up: Grim tales of grim heroes grimly struggling against grim odds grimly set for a grim victory. It makes the need for heroes feel more...necessary...

    Points of Light

No, really, what are these Points of Light? Good-ish strongholds that you base the PCs in while everywhere else is evil and darque and has loads of good loot and XP? And how is that a feature? I thought that was just "PCs' hometown."

    D&D is Unfun [humorous troll]

I remember watching a trailer for one of his DVDs and kept wondering when the jokes would show up.

Sounds like I might have a reason to pick up 4E. :p

    Points of Light

Even if, on hikes in the real world, you've seen plenty of them? I've missed the original article. What is this "Points of Light" thing? Has a New World Order descended on D&D? Read my lips, no new treasure taxes?

So what's the next book to be released in the "Complete" series?

But that would make sense, at least that's what my +1 Goblin of the Tenser's Arch-Magi of Etheralness of the Demonweb Pits tells me.

Which of the following early D&D adventures did you play in?

D'ohhhhhhhhhhhh, forgot to check "Ravenloft." Also "Against the Cult of the Reptile God."

    Mialee's still Ugialee.

That was the one then. The magic missile I cast missed. Any rate, I still don't think an ancient PC game is indicative of the combat system of, or how 1E was played.
