it's up, they just (at least as of a few minutes ago) haven't changed the main playtest page yet. but if you go to download it, it is the new packet with level 1-10 classes, etc.

in case no one noticed, even though the download page still talks about magic items (at least at the time i am posting this), the document itself is the updated document (with the levels 1-10, etc)

(this comment based entirely on what is written here and not on actual rules info) Rogues getting CS might lead to some interesting combo opportunities (as well as headaches) when Rogue-Fighter multiclassing comes about.

October playtest packet I didn't see a thread for this already so just pointing out that i got an email announcing the october playtest packet. after reading it through briefly, the main updates are to magic items, monsters, and the adventure (to reflect the magic item and monster changes).

funny as it is, it just became even funnier when i realized it's sort of local to me (washington dc suburbs) ;) I know women who could, so i may just point it out to them for a laugh (with no expectation that they actually would)

I think the newer stuff (post essentials?) that i've seen that is like this will specifically say that it 'ignores cover and superior cover" or 'ignores cover but not superior cover' but as a -personal- rule of thumb, i'd say that if it doesn't mention surperior cover then it does not bypass...

as a random aside, the last time they did a playtest update like this, it was a couple weeks before they released the next playtest rules. if that holds as a pattern we'll probably get playtest packet 3 in the first half of october (which is right around the corner).

while i completely appreciate the idea of something advancing, i am not sure backgrounds should simply because, as currently defined, backgrounds are what the character did before/where he came from, and thus the advancement should be on skills and traits that the character is focusing on now...

i make up the habit and society information for monsters as i need. it's actually somewhat freeing to me to be able to use them as needed for any given campaign, rather than always feeling urged to use it a certain specific way that might not necessarily fit with a particular campaign setting...
