    piracy is a problem

By creating demand. If there was no demand there'd be no product - or at least less. Also, don't the host sites recieve some sort of benefit for doing so?

    Oh, well in that case.....

    piracy is a problem

Just another random thought on this subject (as I said before I'm no expert, nor am I a good guy): If having a pdf means you delay in purchasing a copy, even if you do eventually buy it, then you still cost the producer money in lost interest. Doesn't this mean that the production company is...

    piracy is a problem

Intellectual rights, copyright, pirating and filesharing are complex ethical and legal issues. I have no real idea as to what effect torrentz have on sales figures - how could anyone really ever know whether someone would or would not have bought a book if they didn't exist? What I am...

    piracy is a problem

I may be naive, but doesn't downloading illegal torrents, whether or not you also buy hard copies, encourage further piracy and further leaks. Which in turn hurts sales across the board, especially for local independant stores, and pushes up prices for everyone???

    What SHOULD FLGS do?

How about doing some real promotion - advertsing in local press or radio, posters, online, spreading the word in colleges and youth clubs etc.

    4E leak?

What do you mean by fake? Most seem to be taking them as real. And some seem to have hard copies from retailers who sent them early - if they are fake I'm sure that there'd be discrepencies between these two types of early recievers.

    D&D 4E Should WotC Release 4E Now?

I don't know how WotC can win this. If they decide, ok we'll release it early it'd be sending a bad message to everyone, setting a nasty precidant and probably harming FLGS sales - not to mention messing up their big launch. If they don't (I reckon they won't) then they'll lose money and face...

    What SHOULD FLGS do?

I've noticed lots of posts with complaints about their FLGS. How about putting together a nice, easy list for store owners stating what we want as consumers? 1) F = Friendly, not monosyllabic grunting and no eye contact. How about talking to your customers as human beings? 2)...

    Concerning buying D&D 4th Edition

I wonder if RPGs will exist in a decade's time - or if it'll be just loads of MMOs???

    Concerning buying D&D 4th Edition

If I thought it was at all possible to make a living from a game store I'd be seriously tempted to set one up. I very much doubt that I could do worse than some of the stores I've seen with regards to advertising, promotion, cleanliness, friendliness, knowledge etc. However, I can't really see...

    WotC Badger Online Content Bonus?

It would be fun for a statted badger. Oh, and while we're at it, how about a flumph, a duck, an anthropomorphic baleen whale and a map of a gnome's lair.

    Will buy.com get sued?

It's been confirmed that it was buy.com then? Were they the only ones? Was it from their mistakes that torrents appeared or was that a bizarre conincidence?

    Core Handbook Errors Discussion

That's pretty depressing. Not a major problem in itself, but if the flagship core has such errors it bodes ill for future releases. I hope I'm wrong.

    We're back to AD&D1

Sounds fine to me. I liked AD&D. I only need rules for combat and action stuff, anyway - the role-playing we can do without any rules.
