[UPDATED AGAIN] Gary Gygax's Widow & TSR Settle Trademark Dispute

What a damn shame. To me this reeks of pettiness. This is pure speculation, but I can't think of any other scenarios: Either: a.) Part of the agreement from Gail was that the sons are no longer affiliated. Petty b.) The other founders were so upset at being put into this predicament they...

Pathfinder 1E Mind blown by my player

You know, I think what made this moment so great was he never hesitated. I mean, I paused to debate whether or not to give it to him. But he never did.

Pathfinder 1E Mind blown by my player

So... I know you always have to expect the unexpected from your players, but man I got my mind blown on Thursday night. The player that threw me off guard was none other than my brother; a guy I have known his entire life and he hit me with something from left field. Setting the scene: So I...

When A Game Store Goes Above And Beyond

Good for them man. Now THAT is a hell of a business move. Reminds me of a quote from Henry Ford... The man who will use his skill and constructive imagination to see how much he can give for a dollar, instead of how little he can give for a dollar, is bound to succeed.

Here's That Hi-Res Sword Coast Map

Wow... I literally almost pulled the trigger and bought this last night. Now if only I could get it to load into Roll20. The file size is HUUUUUGE! (compared to my typical upload anyway)

Fantasy Grounds Now Offers Free Trial; Plus D&D 5E Basic Rules Now Included In All Licenses

Very smart decision. Charging $2.99 for rules WotC gave out for free always seemed like nickel and diming to me. And I could never try out the product really. It was like, Ok, so I downloaded the demo, cool lets check out how cool its going to be to have rules built in! Oh wait, the demo...

D&D 5E (2014) Do you find Fantasy Grounds just too much of an investment?

I would suggest doing a couple searches on Youtube for D&D games. I think it would explain things a lot easier than me trying to describe it all in a forum. Also, for the record, screen space is the reason I want built in video lol.

D&D 5E (2014) Do you find Fantasy Grounds just too much of an investment?

Also, why would you use video for anything other than online? :-)

D&D 5E (2014) Do you find Fantasy Grounds just too much of an investment?

Seriously? It's a much more enjoyable experience in my opinion. Yes. We look at each other. I certainly consider gestures part of role-playing. The Acquisition Incorporated videos are way better than their podcasts. Again, in my opinion.

In person? Or online? Sounds like you are meeting in person, which we are not.

RPG Evolution - D&D Does Digital Part IV: Online Communities

Well, I have always loved the business part. Evaluating the successes and failures. It's probably weird that I would rather discuss those topics more than actual rules... I guess it's just the way I'm wired. Oh well. Again, great series so far. Well researched and very interesting topic.

RPG Evolution - D&D Does Digital Part IV: Online Communities

I totally agree. I think the game will ultimately stand the test of time. It's funny, here in Texas you might hear an exchange at a restaurant that goes like: "What would you like to drink?" "Coke" "What kind?" "Dr. Pepper" That is exactly how I feel about D&D. It's a brand that defines it's...

RPG Evolution - D&D Does Digital Part IV: Online Communities

Great article. It's amazing how, to me at least, this series has been sort of disparaging (through no fault of your own, it is just the facts after all). It seems like each article highlights the many failures the game has experienced. What's really fascinating is that it almost perfectly...

    D&D 5E (2014) DM Quits The Game

I have said this before as advice to another GM: Great friends don't always make great players. I value my time. My time gaming is very valuable to me and if I have chosen to spend this time sharing it with others/prepping for a session, I simply ask that they respect my time as well; a...

D&D Does Digital Part III: PDFs

I understand the economics behind the scene. I am an importer. There is a big difference in a business owner saying he cannot match a price of a larger distributor, with more buying power, and one who refuses to part with any merchandise that doesn't fetch MSRP. MSRP = Manufacturers Suggested...

D&D Does Digital Part III: PDFs

I do want to chime in here on this. I personally live in one of the most highly populated areas in the country, DFW. I have a huge luxury of having a plethora of comic shops available to me within a reasonable distance. What that in mind, I still purchased all of my books on Amazon, ultimately...

D&D 5E (2014) Do you find Fantasy Grounds just too much of an investment?

I did not watch the videos. But if it is what I think it is, it will be for streaming not for playing if that makes any sense. Basically, people can watch the streamers OBS which will look like video is playing. But in game, aka what the players are seeing, is in fact just FG. So it's kind of...

D&D 5E (2014) Do you find Fantasy Grounds just too much of an investment?

Video man, video. I have three monitors (yes, I spoiled myself after I bought my wife a new house... I told her tough lol) so I can easily run FG and have Google Hangouts or Skype up. I'm fortunate I have a setup that is very accommodating. But two of the players in my group run off of...
