D&D 5E (2014) 5e has everything it needs for Dark Sun

There are a few aspects to this. -WoTC developers have suggested multiple times that feedback and polls indicate most players don't want psionics to run on a separate system from everyone else. So a lot of us assume any psionic class will operate similar to the Artificer (work like other...

D&D 5E (2014) 5e has everything it needs for Dark Sun

Yeah, I just don't have that perspective (for the first two). To each their own, though.

D&D 5E (2014) 5e has everything it needs for Dark Sun

Maybe I'm misunderstanding you, but I've never thought of the elements as needing the psionic label to be thought of as having a conscience. Associating them as too many suggestions (in my head) I don't want.

I for sure would not want that.

    D&D General Critical Role Ending

Rational on the lawyer side. A nightmare on the PR side. I will clarify that I'm not saying it would be a financial disaster, but it would probably end up similar to when Nintendo tried to crack down and take a cut from content producers.

    D&D General Critical Role Ending

WoTC cracking down on streamers for using beholders would be a very poor decision on their part. I agree with the suggestion that this is likely just a choice on CR's part to avoid problems with the non-stream products than Wizards getting on their case. But maybe they big enough and close...

D&D 5E (2014) 5e has everything it needs for Dark Sun

That's a lot to remember and a lot to convert. I will be very surprised if, assuming preserving/defiling is an overlay system and no subclass based, preserving is not just default spellcasting rules.

D&D 5E (2014) 5e has everything it needs for Dark Sun

I am totally fine with defiling being better, but the expectation being PCs are preserver and the societal treatment for non-sorcerer king protected defilers is at best total exile, most often death.

D&D 5E (2014) 5e has everything it needs for Dark Sun

I thought the Dark Sun version of the world axis worked really well, though I don't expect them to revisit it in a 5e version.

D&D 5E (2014) 5e has everything it needs for Dark Sun

I feel very confident saying that isn't going to happen. I can see a section discussing how not all subclasses are appropriate, for the setting and some advice on how to narrow down the list for your game

D&D 5E (2014) 5e has everything it needs for Dark Sun

-Cleric is an issue. Unless they cut it I could see them running Light as fire and maybe tempest as air, but that still leaves two more. Maybe a one-size fits all approach. -I'm betting on preserving/defiling being a system that overlays all arcane casters, so no wizard subclasses. -You...

D&D 5E (2014) 5e has everything it needs for Dark Sun

4e had them deal with preserving/defiling and made Athasian Minstrel a theme anyone could take. Since they already marked the Whisperer subclass as intended for Dark Sun I don't think they will try to dig the full caster out if the Bard just for a subclass.

D&D 5E (2014) Do you find alignment useful in any way?

That's a problem as old as the hobby.

D&D 5E (2014) 5e has everything it needs for Dark Sun

They haven't released a setting that's really tested them on the class list front, though.

D&D 5E (2014) 5e has everything it needs for Dark Sun

Because the opening post is entirely about how Dark Sun doesn't need a Psion. Probably the topic with the most contention, too.

D&D 5E (2014) What most needs revision for the (hypothetical) 50th anniversary core books?

I think any kind of revision would see changes from the current state levels 1-3 are in. I don't think they'd kept the current situation where experienced players are expected to start at level 3 (which I swear the developers have said, but I can't find the quote so maybe someone check me on...

D&D 5E (2014) Do you think we'll see revised core books in 2024? (And why I think we will)

I would say in general that owning a castle just never ended up being the the kind of appealing endgame goal for most players as it was for the early wargamers. It's a concept that's role has continuously diminished over decades.

D&D 5E (2014) "Big Summer Adventure" Drow related? Announcement imminent?

"Tied" in the loosest sense of the world. But I agree, they will market it as a tie-in.

D&D 5E (2014) Do you find alignment useful in any way?

In general, I don't care about or even particulary like alignment. I have two uses for alignment. 1. It's a guideline for players, especially new players, in determining their character's personality, behaviour, and how the react to a given situation. That last one is the biggest, again...
