D&D 5E (2014) DungeonScape (formerly known as Morningstar)

Oh right. So there hasn't been an official announcement saying they'll be releasing a DMG 2 for instance? If so, that's a relief, as I'm not keen to get on board the splatbook train.

    D&D 5E (2014) 5th Edition and The Rules

I wholeheartedly agree. In any edition the players/DM should do as they see fit, to create the game they wish to play. 1e is idiosyncratic for sure. And there is no 'central' mechanic that dealt with every situation, but there is a clear set of rules (guidelines) that the DM/players can use...

D&D 5E (2014) I now the DMG isn't out yet, but I'm gonna DM anyway. Thus far, I've noticed that...

Compare CRs between other creatures. If you have the Starter Set, compare say, the Redbrand thugs, with a hobgoblin and goblin. What is the difference in CRs? Why? Does one have a particular power that bumps up its CR. Once you've generally answered those questions, roughly estimate what you...

D&D 5E (2014) DungeonScape (formerly known as Morningstar)

Where's the info on the 'DMG 2'? Is it in a Legends & Lore post?

I'm sure it will be available as an app for computer too.

D&D 5E (2014) Wizard with 20 CON and the Durable feat

The spirit of the rule, as well as the reading certainly indicate a total. The new rules are definitely loosely written (although that's not necessarily a bad thing).

D&D 5E (2014) Wizard with 20 CON and the Durable feat

Normally to regain hit points (without the durable feat) you roll your hit die + con modifier. The durable feat enables you to roll normally, but if the total falls under your con modifier x2 then you take the doubled con modifier result instead. Example: In the case of a Wizard with 20 con a...

    D&D 5E (2014) Starter Set: Phandalin Map

Perhaps my eyes are deceiving me, but that looks very much like the Keep on the Borderlands :)

    I like this idea

D&D 5E (2014) My biggest gripe about 5e so far, as a DM

Well sure. Information in one place certainly helps. And it sounds like you prefer the 4e stat blocks over say 1e. That's not to say one is superior, or that an offering in 1979 isn't as robust or useful as one made in 2008, as you seem to be implying by the 'amateur enthusiasts' comment. A...

    D&D 5E (2014) Playtest +basic? Anyone run anything yet?

That's pretty much exactly what I wanted to know. I'm in a similar boat. Never played 4th, it just didn't appeal. I love AD&D and we played/still play 3.x (Pathfinder at the moment), so this is welcome news. I've already preordered everything for 5th, so I'm looking forward to playing.

And yet, that contains all the information you need to run the monster.

    D&D 5E (2014) Forgotten Realms

Ew...Salvatore. I was wondering a similar thing about the realms. We have the 3rd ed sourcebook which we used a lot. Never played 4th and don't own any material. I've considered picking up the original '87 grey box and seeing how well that fits in, or maybe just waiting until something official...

    D&D 5E (2014) 5B & 5A, and 5s? The excluded third everybody is forgetting about!.

I can't speak for anyone other than myself on this. I'm a big fan of a lot of old school editions - OD&D Basic/Expert, 1e, 2e. For me personally I wouldn't say 5e will replace any of these games, but I am certainly planning on running a 5e campaign when I get the chance. My current group is...

D&D 5E (2014) Starter Set Adventure Maps available (both DM & Player)

I agree. I don't really mind as long as some decent maps are included in the adventure itself. I think that's fairly insightful of the Wizards team to honour the creative control of the individual's work to a greater extent. That link to his photo bucket account is helpful anyway. We often run...

    D&D 5E (2014) Playtest +basic? Anyone run anything yet?

That sounds great Grazzt! Out of interest, how do people find combat flows compared with say 4th or 3rd (or even 1e or 2e)? I haven't run the play test rules, but they seem a bit more lite than the basic rules. Is this correct?
