Hasbro/WotC has crossed the Trust Thermocline

The erosion was there. It had been growing pretty steadily. This is just the move that made the cliff face crumble.

Hasbro/WotC has crossed the Trust Thermocline

So I was this article linked on Twitter: Breaching The Trust Thermocline The basic idea is: The article then goes on to talk about how: The cause of this crossing is the slow erosion of individual trust in a brand which translates to a massive, large-scale abandonment of the product or...

The WotC OGL Release on DDB today was edited in real time!

Because the things they didn't change? Are the problem! The thing that needed to happen was a complete walkback and a re-commitment to the OGL, preferably with releasing language stating they cannot alter the existing license! The entire problem is that they thought they could do this in the...

The Paranoid's Guide: Brief Thoughts on the Recent Timeline of the OGL

Nothing about that tweet invalidates the thought processes that went in to the ORC and the OGL instead of using a CCL, since I'm not the one you need to convince of this. I'm going by what Ryan Dancey himself has said about why his team elected not to use a CCL. Take it up with him.

The WotC OGL Release on DDB today was edited in real time!

The real power move would to be to put those up, AND a 4e SRD. Just to really hammer it home.

I'd be more concerned about the poor sex workers they coerced into that offer. We all know how terribly WotC treats its workforce.

The WotC OGL Release on DDB today was edited in real time!

The Paranoid's Guide: Brief Thoughts on the Recent Timeline of the OGL

For the same reasons Ryan Dancey and Brian Lewis didn't use a CCL for the OGL to begin with -- there's a lot of Creative Commons Licenses, and some are more restrictive while others are more open. Using any of the alphabet soup licenses comes with the risk of misinterpretation (innocent or...

OGL-Gate & Mainstream Media: The Guardian Weighs In

Interesting that they don't mention that Baron De Rapp is a YouTuber...he's not just some random DM.

D&D General Are You Seriously Planning to Stop Playing and/or Running D&D Over The Recent OGL Developments?

i once had plans to pick up OneD&D stuff and see if it was worth trying to replace the stuff I already own. Between this OGL stuff and what Hasbro has been doing to MTG, I do not plan to directly buy anything WotC produces ever again. I might buy MTG singles off the secondary market for...

    EN Publishing & The OGL

It would be great to see Level Up signed on to the ORC as a show of solidarity.

The OGL -- Just What's Going On?

Simple answer: They weren't. They only see us as obstacles to their money, not the source of it. C-suite execs think they are entitled to our cash.

What Are Some Common First-time Dm Questions?

So, I've compiled this list, and the one I posted another board, and I'm noticing some general trends. There is a desire for information on the social and mechanical aspects of the game, but the biggest sticky wickets are in world-creation and managing expectations of DMs vs. the expectations...
