    D&D 5E (2014) War of the Burning Sky (5E)

The Book of Eight Lands is an artifact that keeps an up-to-date record of all members of the ruling noble families. It also names which of those persons is currently the most worthy to rule. Traditionally, that person was always considered the heir to the throne. The chaotic line of succession...

5E War of the Burning Sky [IC]

Torrent nodded at the various holy symbols on display, including on the shield presumably belonging to herself leaning against one of the tables on the side of the room. "Blessed by Athena, Apollo, and Poseidon," she said, "I hope that means our work is favored by the gods. We're just waiting...

    D&D 5E (2014) War of the Burning Sky (5E)

There is now a Rogues' Gallery thread. Please post your characters there. I'm going to use the first post to keep track of characters' current status/resources/conditions. It'll show current resources of PCs and known allies and expended resources of enemies since you don't necessarily know...

So I'll try to neaten this up when I've got my hands on my actual computer instead of a phone, but the first IC thread is now open.

5E War of the Burning Sky [IC]

You had been asked to meet an operative named Torrent shortly before midnight in the pub of the Poison Apple Inn to discuss things, and to use the alley door. Supposedly, she has an important mission and needs the help of capable adventurers, and she plans to leave the city with them. Normally...

    D&D 5E (2014) War of the Burning Sky (5E)

To the best of my ability, although I have had health issues in the past that have been somewhat unpredictable. Anyway, you'll have to wait until I have access to my PHB before I look over your character sheet (tonight, but that might be late enough that I put it off until tomorrow), but...

    D&D 5E (2014) War of the Burning Sky (5E)

Mechanically: I think you've spent two ability points too many. Reducing Charisma by one solves that without lowering his bonus. You only get one free instrument proficiency for multiclassing bard. Aaand you've actually only got two uses of Bardic Inspiration per day. On the positive side, you...

    D&D 5E (2014) War of the Burning Sky (5E)

Steppengard's grandson? Yes, yes I can definitely work with that. Although you could also consider one of the ruling nobles instead--Lord Gallo, Lady Timor, Lord Megadon, Lady Iz, Lord Rego, Lady Dene, or Lady Namin. I didn't list Lord Dashgoban as he's not human. Regardless of your choice, you...

    D&D 5E (2014) War of the Burning Sky (5E)

Davaros's backstory still references the daughter of the king of Ragesia--perhaps a daughter or granddaughter of one of the smaller nations/tribes conquered by Ragesia? Other than that, everything looks good there.

That does specifically say the somatic component involves two hands, doesn't it? It's fine. I wouldn't have even thought to question it if you didn't point it out.

    D&D 5E (2014) War of the Burning Sky (5E)

Sure, that's fine. A staff could be used as a weapon like a quarterstaff, but I dunno about a halberd. He'd still need to handle it to cast those spells, but sure. Huh. I guess I don't see why not, and it doesn't really give you any special benefit. You mean holding the weapon in one hand...

    D&D 5E (2014) War of the Burning Sky (5E)

I don't object to him being related to the rulers, but two things: Supreme Inquisitor Leska was Emperor Coaltongues adviser, not his daughter. He doesn't have any direct descendants. The Resistance wants to protect Gate Pass from both Ragesia and Shahalesti. Shining Lord Shaaladel wouldn't have...

    D&D 5E (2014) War of the Burning Sky (5E)

I'm afraid I don't have that one. I've picked it up a few times, but I'm not really interested in the setting material. The most common languages around Gate Pass would be Common, Orc, and Elvish. Dwarvish is probably most common after that. A favor from an admirer is a standard part of the...

    D&D 5E (2014) War of the Burning Sky (5E)

Given that it's a generous base that's better than rolling on average, you should probably just use that. I had assumed both of you were, since you both had higher Int and comparatively low Wis. I s'pose wizards probably care more about their casting stat, though, so I might have been off base.

    D&D 5E (2014) War of the Burning Sky (5E)

And now I'm having internet connectivity issues, because nothing is ever easy. :erm: Anyway, I've gone over all completed characters of people who said they were definitely still interested. I'll review the other ones tomorrow. Matthan At the top of Caleb's sheet it says his saving throw...

There isn't an established place for them in the setting, but if you have something in mind I'm not necessarily opposed.

    D&D 5E (2014) 5e completely nerfed charm - for YOU, anyway

To be fair, Morlock stated that "proper" torture (perhaps the intent of the oxymoron was that the condition being impossible to fulfill makes it impossible to disprove) is completely infallible before immediately explaining why it couldn't possibly achieve anything.

    Disengage

Disengage doesn't give you any extra movement, it just means that moving doesn't provoke opportunity attacks.
