Points in a The Legend of Zelda pointcrawl

i know LoZ but not what a pointcrawl is/what the purpose of the 'points' is, i may possibly be able to assist if i could get some elaboration on what they are/do. also, is this meant to occur in any specific version of hyrule or are you creating your own version with the usual landmarks?

Monster Manual Suggests Changes Are Coming to Some Playable Species

for more than a few people that's a debatable statement.

Monster Manual Suggests Changes Are Coming to Some Playable Species

i don't see why a species couldn't just have multiple creature types, a tiefling is a Fiend/Humanoid, a goblin is a Fey/Humanoid, a warforged is a Construct/Humanoid. both hold person and hold monster work on them but hold person has disadvantage on anything with a secondary type.

D&D General How Often Should a PC Die in D&D 5e?

could you elaborate on your reasons why you think this? i mean, i assume that playing most any module comes with a certain level of assumed goals and expected story beats simply because that's how a module works, it's a prewritten story outline, the supporting skeleton of events, it expects some...

D&D General How Often Should a PC Die in D&D 5e?

I feel the smarter and kinder decision would be to recognise as you have already identified that this style of game is not for you and just not join their table, you don’t have to ‘play under protest’ because nobody is forcing you to play with them. So you mean you want them to call BadWrongFun...

D&D General How Often Should a PC Die in D&D 5e?

the capability to restrain themselves from fighting the end-of-campaign enemy they've just been told repeatedly is too strong for them and not to fight? that knight is a milestone to be worked towards, it's something to drive and motivate them to make themselves stronger until the day they do...

    D&D 5E (2014) The "General Nature" of a Trap

as much as i'm always ready to take the one-off jab at caster supremacy we do NOT need another thread generated for that topic again any time soon.

    D&D 5E (2014) The "General Nature" of a Trap

Oh! i didn't realise we'd started caring when magic would make martial classes redundant, how recently did that change happen? ;)

D&D General Recommend me a somewhat contained setting

you could maybe adapt one of the various hyrules for your purposes? those usually have several settlements and a good array of geography, even if you just use it as an outline and rework the details.

Monster Manual Suggests Changes Are Coming to Some Playable Species

I’d say it’s the goat legs that do it.

    NPC Deception/Persuasion and player agency

your character isn't an alien to the setting, but the player behind that character functionally is and it behooves them to ask those kinds of questions of the GM before they declare their character's actions so they know what's what around the setting and don't do things an alien would.

D&D 5E (2024) How Important Is The Lore

it's not about explaining things with as few words as possible, it's about trimming out all the information that doesn't consistently and fundamentally describe all elves as standard, a grudge against orcs? not fundamental to their elfness, cut it, their forest civilisations? not always in...

D&D 5E (2024) How Important Is The Lore

okay yeah this is the thought i was trying to have, you can keep the lore for the lorebooks, but for the core books i really only want the description, tell us what things fundamentally are and let us play with the peices, maybe you insert some pages of lore for the generic assumed setting of...

D&D 5E (2024) Its till just me or is the 2024 MM heavily infused by more 4e influences?

you'll forgive my scepticism on this particular point when they said basically exactly the same thing in 2014 only for it to be later revealed that it was more or less assumed you'd have a caster concentrating on the Magic Weapon spell to facilitate the martials whenever you encountered...

D&D 5E (2024) Its till just me or is the 2024 MM heavily infused by more 4e influences?

i was referring to the purely martial DnD classes, i didn't realise AiME was a game, i thought it was an abbreviation of 'and in my experience.'

D&D 5E (2024) Its till just me or is the 2024 MM heavily infused by more 4e influences?

part of this issue i think is simply the small budget of abilities species often get to define themselves, relentless endurance and agressive are fine but they don't exactly add up to much by themselves, it'd be quite easier to identify an orc purely mechanically if they had for instance...

D&D 5E (2024) Its till just me or is the 2024 MM heavily infused by more 4e influences?

sure it 'can' work, but when you've restricted yourself to like 15% of class options i wonder just how much the game is 'meant' to be played like that.

cool, so everyone will be playing as a classless commoner, Oh man this game is going to be So Fun. /s

doesn't going 'totally no magic' on characters restrict you to like 4 classes(or 3 depending on how far you stretch the definition of magic) with access to barely half of their subclasses?
