    D&D 5E (2014) What high-level spells could warp society?

this thread made me think, we've been discussing if everyone had adventuring class levels, do people think 5e lacks for not having NPC classes? stuff like craftsman, farmers, aristocrats, scholars or merchants. does a 20th level scholar have their own little list of spells? casting legend lore...

D&D 5E (2024) Its till just me or is the 2024 MM heavily infused by more 4e influences?

well the push mastery does exist in 5.5, it's just a matter of giving it to the hill giant.

D&D 5E (2024) Its till just me or is the 2024 MM heavily infused by more 4e influences?

i feel like there is potential in the idea of repurposing/utilising the sidekick classes for monster's class levels, like, here are these classes that are designed to imitate the classes but streamlined and simplified.

    D&D 5E (2014) What high-level spells could warp society?

i mean, look at their previous post before that one, it might take a little bit to get off the ground i think yeah, after the few years it takes to get the ball rolling on some of those 'permanent if cast for a year' spells and the initial chunking your way through the masses with...

    D&D General Instead of Steed

i don't know the bastion rules all that well but i might take inspiration from them and give them the ability to summon for up to 8 hours a day an extradimensional space that's a cross between tiny hut and bastion rules, you get a bunkroom for your party and any one of the facilities that...

    Darkvision Ruins Dungeon-Crawling

Dealing damage, IMO, for the most part should not be magic's point of focus and i think it's a bit of a shame it has come to be seen for blasting first problem solving second, it's focus should be utility or facilitation, and the directly offensive spells that do exist would do well to fill...

    Darkvision Ruins Dungeon-Crawling

not to re-tangent but personally my issue with infinite offensive cantrips isn't that they exist but that they're too strong, the average damage die of a cantrip is d8, most are ranged they scale multiple times and they often come with rider effects. a cantrip to me is a caster's basic attack...

D&D General How Often Should a PC Die in D&D 5e?

DND is a narrative game, Snakes and Ladders isn't, it makes sense that only mechanical consequences matter in a mechanical game but why aren’t narrative consequences valid for DND?

    NPC Deception/Persuasion and player agency

just focusing on this bit specifically, this feels like complaining that a hypothetical class named 'Master Smith' defines the class as a leader because it contains the word 'master', being a 'Warlord' in no way insinuates that the class/character is inherently superior than anyone else, people...

Mainstream News Discovers D&D's Species Terminology Change

    D&D 5E (2014) Baldur's Gate 3 needs more short companions!

Anyway, back to the actual topic, i might add to the companion lineup: A Halfling Monk A Gnome Sorcerer And a Dwarven Bard I'm less confident at picking their backgrounds but maybe in order: Folk Hero, Urchin and Guild Artisan respectively.

    D&D 5E (2014) Baldur's Gate 3 needs more short companions!

we'll just skip over the insinuation that all short people are child-coded and therefore it's problematic if they have sex shall we?

    NPC Deception/Persuasion and player agency

This is one of the reasons i feel sometimes players shouldn’t be aware of their rolls, so they can’t ‘know’ they failed a perception or investigation or insight, they need to take what their GM tells them as what they get.

i'm aware, but i was saying what if they weren't, what if each species was represented by a companion.
