    D&D 5E (2014) Baldur's Gate 3 needs more short companions!

given there are 10 (11 if dark origin had been it's own) companions and 11 species i'm surprised they didn't choose to have each companion be one of each species, there are three humans, five variants of elf(1 high(also vampire), 1 wood, 1 drow and 2 high half-elves), one tiefling, and a...

    D&D 5E (2014) Baldur's Gate 3 needs more short companions!

my point is more that having a fully fleshed out representational compainion with their own storyline and strong character is a near guarantee to boost a species popularity, didn't githyanki gain a surge in popularity after the game came out? i'm sure that had nothing to do with Lae'zel's...

    D&D 5E (2014) Baldur's Gate 3 needs more short companions!

it's a bit hard for people to have a chance to even like them when they haven't offered you any to engage with in the first place. "how many people picked the short species companions?" "none, this proves they're not liked" "did you even offer them any short species companions" "..."

    NPC Deception/Persuasion and player agency

What a warlord does is barely even different to bardic inspiration yet we don’t see people complaining all over about how ‘their character is FORCED into the narrative of being inspired by the bard’s words and music’

    NPC Deception/Persuasion and player agency

the final goal didn't change, but they have been convinced in the short term that one piece of cheesecake 'couldn't hurt that much' or is 'worth the extra exercise'

    NPC Deception/Persuasion and player agency

i wonder how long it would take 'because my agency' players to call bullcrap if GMs started ignoring their empassioned speeches and Persuasion 27 rolls by claiming their NPC's 'agency' and 'they weren't convinced by your argument' or found the PC's 'suspicious'

    NPC Deception/Persuasion and player agency

well the mechanics control the PCs in every other area of the game, so i feel like it's social encounters that are the odd one out/proud nail here. it's a dice roll that determines if a character can keep their footing, it's a dice roll that determines if a fear effect affects them, it's a dice...

    NPC Deception/Persuasion and player agency

on the other hand, you're telling me that words don't have the power to convince anyone of anything, that people have total intentional control over every single emotional response they feel, when people get angry or sad in response to something it isn't because they've decided to think 'i'm...

D&D 5E (2024) Help Me Hate Monks (Less Than I Currently Do)

Yeah, given most monks dump STR to focus on DEX they really don't have the carrying capacity for it.

    NPC Deception/Persuasion and player agency

i don't know why you simply don't extend your ironclad control of your characters own emotions and agency to resist the effects of the magic, "i just don't see my mental model of my character succumbing to the effects of the spell so i make my saving throw without rolling and it has no effect on...

Mainstream News Discovers D&D's Species Terminology Change

i remember there was a poll on 'preferred alternates to race' done here in a thread on enworld after the change was revealed, maybe you're thinking of that?

D&D General How Often Should a PC Die in D&D 5e?

i assume because they've made their decision based on the current wording of the rules, so for their decision to change the wording or details of the rules that decision is based off of would have to first change.

    D&D 5E (2014) Stripping 5e to its core

a question i think that would be important to consider in stripping 5e to it's basics: which spells are you keeping? as it stands the spell library of 5e is very bloated especially for an adaptation trying to trim the fat.

    D&D 5E (2014) Stripping 5e to its core

i didn't write it on the post but it'd imagined it would cost MP to use your breath weapon, and weapon attacks are still getting their STR/DEX bonus, so i don't know it would be that exploitable/powerful.

    D&D 5E (2014) Stripping 5e to its core

i might cross that idea with inspiration from the idea you responded to, your class sets your base damage die and weapon properties shift it up or down: ranged(100/300) -2 die size (ranged weapons would default to STR rather than DEX) ranged(30/80) -1 die size finesse -1 die size reach -1 die...

D&D 5E (2024) Help Me Hate Monks (Less Than I Currently Do)

the issue i have with the monk's abilities is that they're too specific, but it isn't really an issue with the monk themselves per-se but the entire selection of martial classes and that there's too much niche protection in their abilities between each other, i would rather have four/five...
