Yet Another Homebrew Race Needs Balancing (3 of 5)

The effect I gave to the Ulruun is the equivalent of gaining the Wild Talent feat. The Tri-Kreen already had a lot going for it, like multiple limbs, and insane jumping capabilities amongst some others. It was already on the edge of being +2 LA me thinks.

Yet Another Homebrew Race Needs Balancing (3 of 5)

No they cannot, and nor does a Gnome's bonus to casting illusion spells help a rogue either. These creatures aren't all that aggressive, and prefer to keep to themselves. Still, they know better than to sit down defenseless, as they are attacked from time to time, be they from the odd goblin...

Yet Another Homebrew Race Needs Balancing (3 of 5)

Though you bring up an interesting suggestion with the racials, I think I want to keep this race's options completely open to a wide variety of external forces. Even though it would be more on the lines of detrimental to try and benefit from every last one of their racials, the few racials that...

Yet Another Homebrew Race Needs Balancing (3 of 5)

Well part of the reason I made this race was to provide a race that had an Intellect Bonus. What if I got rid of its skill bonuses instead?

Yet Another Homebrew Race Needs Balancing (3 of 5)

I do see what you're getting at again, but I still also want to keep the prospect of a multitude of classes to be attractive for this race. Yes, maybe the fighter might be more detrimental here in terms of being a physical powerhouse, but choosing this race for a Fighter might still open up...

Yet Another Homebrew Race Needs Balancing (3 of 5)

Hello again, with the last 2 races evaluated and critiqued I think down to a much better level than before, I think its time to give you guys the next race that needs balancing. You can see the other two races in these threads: Tsaghoal...

    Making Another Homebrew Race

Ok, posting again to say that I made a lot of new edits not only to the Treeling's traits, but I also added an Additional Notes section where I can explain biology and whatnot.

    Making Another Homebrew Race

Ok, so how can I make a creature with Powerful Build with +0 LA? Thats the challenge I'm trying to bring to you guys to help me out. Like you said as well, a Treeling has the threat range of a Medium Sized creature, and I think a big part of what gives a Large Creature their LA is their threat...

    Making Another Homebrew Race

I inserted Reduced Speed with the added effect of not being reduced by a medium/heavy load or wearing medium/heavy armor for flavor. As for Subterranean Sensitivity, can't I also argue that the Treeling's skill bonuses are only a factor in some games as well?

    Making Another Homebrew Race

Posting another update, I reworded the Plant-like Trait. I reduced speed. And I edited Powerful Build into Sturdy Body Structure.

To address your first point, which is a very good point, is that yes, by the looks of it, there is no weight/size table, which I could have sworn there was. Theres too many tables sometimes. I'll fix that, and go with the other suggestion. And yes, by Plants, I mean Plant Type creatures, as in...

What Rules Sources Do You Allow?

I allow any official 3.0/3.5 books so long as if I have a hard-copy of them. I simply don't allow a source if I can't refer to it on hand either. Saves me a little pain as a DM

    Making Another Homebrew Race

I just added a new trait, being Dense Weight, which should also help to explain the Powerful Build. And your suggestion of making a Photophillic racial trait is a good idea, but I'll see what you think of what I put in. Keep criticising!

    Making Another Homebrew Race

A Treeling can adapt to other social environs though, its just that they often don't care to leave their forests as they already like it there. And yes, the CON does make sense too, infact, I had a racial trait here before I abolished it that said that a Treeling gets +1 more bonus Hitpoint per...

    Making Another Homebrew Race

I want to keep the NA and all that like it is, though I'll insert another penalty, and see what you think. Every day, a Treeling needs to root themselves into the ground for 8 hours. In that time, a Treeling both eats and rests. During this time, they grow 2d4 fruits. After they are done...

    Making Another Homebrew Race

I'm not really going for optimization here, I'm just making race concepts, and then working with them. I prefer the races I make to have a little something for anyone, granted, some things will be more better than others than others. I know this point of view isn't popular amongst a great...

    Making Another Homebrew Race

You do bring up some good thoughts, though I'll see about answering your questions. For your first point, I think the best way to answer it is to tell you how I see these stats. I see Charisma as an arbitrary measurement of personality, and how well that personality is expressed. It is true...

    Making Another Homebrew Race

As the name implies, I made a similar thread a few days back about a race called the Tsaghoal: Thread: http://www.enworld.org/forum/d-d-legacy-discussion/313803-making-homebrew-race-need-your-help-balancing.html The act of balancing out the Tsaghoal is still going on right now, but I'm still...

Ideas for a character that is Evil?

The problem I see with a lot of "Evil" aligned characters is that more often than not, many of the people playing them off as evil end up looking more ridiculous than evil. Not that I'm an expert, but hopefully I can push you in the right direction. So to begin, the first thing to do is to...
