I think the mainstream as a whole is more interested in fantasy and superheroes and the like, and RPGS are following on that interest.

Well, October is gonna be a big kickstarter rewards month for me (or November, maybe). I will be getting a bunch of minis (including the KRAKEN) from one kickstarter and a lot of tiles from Dwarven Forge. The minis will be nice for my next campaign and I'm really curious to see how 3D terrain...

I think doing multiple rolls in opposed checks is a good idea also.

I am thinking in my next d20 game to just use skills and ability checks, especially opposed ones as d10s instead of d20s. d20 is just too random for me.

I have actually played in or run a lot of those games, but then again, my friend and I collected several of them for the battle maps more than the module itself!!!

Yes, for simplicity there should be only a few base classes and with no mods they can be created just like basic characters, simple and fast. Then add the levels of complexity. I ahve no problems with all the "Mage" classes sharing the same spell list but being different in how they cast. 4E...

For me this was a big disappointment, as they announced next to nothing for purchase. My deepest wish for WOTC is that they would actually SELL something in the next year. I see the two sundering adventures, no minis, no maps, no adventures, no rulebooks, but plenty of novels. Come on WOTC...

Depends on whether you own it. The Dragonspear is probably owned, I agree, but are Lair Assault and Encounters? I think WOTC could make an argument against it, at least enough for Ebay to stop selling them.

Yeah, I wish WOTC would try to put a stop to people selling Lair Assaults, Encounters and things like this on Ebay. Maybe there is nothing they can do, but I think they could tell EBAY these are not for further resale.

Yeah, the findings list is no surprise to me. My question is if that can be delivered. The one bullet point I would have added is You want characters that have mechanical, in addition to roleplay differences. The playtest really seemed to be pushing this, though the last packet, not so much.

That is one thing I always hated about 3.5. Buff buff buff and the players really screamed at the DM if the monsters did not serve themselves on a platter once buffing was done.

I would bet my money on around Gencon 2014 I am very curious what will come out of WOTC this Gencon, as I have heard almost nothing previewed except the Sundering stuff.

Well, not knowing anything about the world, this is essentially random. The name of the world should reflect some part of the setting, I feel. But going with it in a random way, I prefer Erebos, as it does not have any meaning baggage for me.
