D&D 4E Prediction: 4e economy will have to change

To add to this, what D&D always had is a bunch of price list for stuff that if you put them all together and/or scale them up, would add up to a non-sensical economy. And this is perfectly fine, since D&D is about modelling adventures in fantasyland and not about modelling the economy of a...

D&D 4E Rules for PC werebears in 4e?

If you're not adverse to a bit of houseruling, take a look at the wildshape mechanic and rules of the druid and take what you like from there. Maybe give him one of the wildshape at wills for when he turns into bear form. If this is more of an RP thing, it would probably be enough.

D&D 4E 4E on the other side of the screen

Glad you're enjoying the player side of things. Teamwork and party dynamics usually take a session or two to sort itself out when you have a bunch of new characters so I wouldn't worry too much how the first combat turned out. edit: I've seen an invoker charge into the middle of a bunch of...

    Which edition(s) do you play?

Well, you can't blame the guy for just skimming through the posts. Who the heck would think that a 2002 thread would somehow get necromancy'd.

What makes a controller a controller?

This is just my personal observation as a DM so it may not be 100% accurate, but I've found that controllers tend be the ones who inflict conditions that creates complicated decisions for the DM. Other roles tend to inflict more straightforward conditions (prone, daze, force movement etc.)...

Im going to sound like an idiot

Very, very importantly, it's not analagous to the saving throw mechanics of previous editions. It's a duration mechanic in 4e. Instead of rolling a d6 to see how many rounds a condition last and having to keep track of how much time has passed, you roll a d20 at the end of each round to see if...

    Fifa World Cup 2010

I gotta agree with the dirty game comment. De Jong should've been sent off after that stupid flying kick.

    Fifa World Cup 2010

I tuned in around the 52-52 mark. Both of them looked dead on their feet.

    Gaining a Beast Companion...

Unless your class feature gives you a "pet", there's no real way to get one within the rules. However, there might be a way around that if your DM allows it. If your party is on the small side or short on a certain role, you might want to talk to your DM about giving your party a companion...

D&D 4E Stealth and Perception checks in 4e

I ususally just have my players roll perception/stealth checks and take 10 for my monsters' perception/stealth for the DC to beat.

    Fifa World Cup 2010

Umm, what? Soccer is huge in China.

    Fifa World Cup 2010

The infamous West Germany vs Austria game of the 1982 world cup was what prompted the change to have the final group games at the same time. It's a good rule, although you'll have to pick which game to watch.

D&D 4E How Badly Do Randomly Rolled Stats Affect 4E Math?

Yeah, you could compensate by taking a class that doesn't depend too much on always hitting and taking a race with the right stat boost, but it does tend to limit your options.

D&D 4E How Badly Do Randomly Rolled Stats Affect 4E Math?

Have we taken a look at the other side of rolling stats (ie. rolling poorly). An array like 14,13,13,12,12,10 is legal but still makes a subpar character. 4e stats really wants at least one relatively high number and tends to reward pairs of high/low numbers due to how NADs are done. An array of...

What if your DM just decides to do a "mid-combat save" and continues the fight next session?

When a rolled "1" isn't an automatic failure?

Taking a step back, if you're not gonna fail even if you roll a 1, why is the DM making you roll anyways?

DMs: What Powers Do PCs Get That You Hate?

My player's warden with cloak of walking wounded uses it. Went up 50 hp in one turn after I took so long to wittle him down. Made him essentially unhittable for a round too. The power that annoys me the most is the shaman's spirit OA attack that grants hps whether it hits or not.

    Martial Healing

umm....D&D pretty much invented the whole use of hp. Even in the earliest edition DMGs, hp was described as an abstraction "a combination of lucky, morale, divine grace etc." rather than physical injury.

    Pushing/pulling allies?

I would treat it as a case of trying to carry/drag an object. In which case, the character doing the dragging would need to take into account his carrying capacity. Most likely he would be slowed. If you want to make a rulling quickly without looking up encumbrance etc. just rule that the...
