D&D 5E (2014) Open Interpretation Inspirational Healing Compromise.

It's got a reliable way to substitute non-magical ability for spells, and it isn't explicitly inferior to the magic option. Of course it's controversial.

Here Come The PRESTIGE CLASSES! Plus Rune Magic!

I think anyone who goes into a battle believing that they'll improve their technique in the course of it is going to come out dead or maimed or beaten if they try. Hour after hour after hour of practice in a nice safe controlled environment - you learn how to perform techniques, how to move, how...

Here Come The PRESTIGE CLASSES! Plus Rune Magic!

The same thing they did with the 'playtest', effectively. The problem being that it's very hard to tell whether something is going to have the right 'feel' until you've actually got a working version to play with.

    D&D 5E (2014) How many fans want a 5E Warlord?

Just out of curiosity, how well does it work wielding your zweihander with a broken wrist? Does it reduce your effectiveness? Do you find it hurts you more with every thrust, parry, swing or change of stance? Would you say it's the sort of injury that you can sleep off without any treatment and...

How many people do you know who haven't switched to 5e, and why haven't they?

Kill the heretic, that knows not Pendragon nor plays it. :D Rest of the list is good, differing from what I like mostly in order rather than content, but if you've any liking for King Arthur/the Matter of Britain/medieval romance then Pendragon is worth giving a try.

Selfish playstyles and other newer issues with the game

I'm getting towards ten years more gaming experience than that, and it was around then too.

Here Come The PRESTIGE CLASSES! Plus Rune Magic!

Seriously? You seriously believe that 'practicing your skills and fighting' means anyone can develop skill at combat and learn new combat techniques. Well, there goes a millennium of people faking that there's a need for schools and trainers to practice in. Forget about months or years of...

    D&D 5E (2014) How many fans want a 5E Warlord?

Multiple interpretations of hit points doesn't mean, "No, hit points will never be restored by anything but time or magic." If anything, quite the opposite should be the case.

D&D 5E (2014) What classes do you want added to 5e?

Do you have the some objection to a class where a perfectly good example is someone who'll burn down a building to kill someone's wife and children in the hope that this will provoke them into coming to fight them? (Paladin, btw).

D&D 5E (2014) What classes do you want added to 5e?

I miss weapon mastery from BECMI, and the domain game in a different way, and the limited spell lists, and although it's not specifically BECM I miss Mystara too. So, the heavily armoured guy whacking enemies with a mace, smiting them with fire from the heavens, and casting healing and buffing...

D&D 5E (2014) What classes do you want added to 5e?

I'm sure you can point to a huge number of archetypes that the D&D Cleric fits, that aren't the D&D Cleric itself. And a host of spellcasters that resembles the D&D Wizard. We can wait.

How many people do you know who haven't switched to 5e, and why haven't they?

My group and two of the three groups I know of don't have a "Game of Choice". They play whatever most suits the type of game they want to run. Sometimes that's Fate, sometimes it's GURPS, sometimes it's Traveller or Dragon Age or Runequest or Heroquest or.... you should get the idea by now. The...

D&D 5E (2014) What classes do you want added to 5e?

Because god knows, what the Wizard needs is more options for which abilities to use. They're currently so short of different choices, pigeon-holed by the lack of variety in their spell lists. Clearly they need to be able to deal with more different things, depending on what today actually...

    D&D 5E (2014) How many fans want a 5E Warlord?

And see, this is part of the problem. All the mundane classes do is something really vague, swing a sword, use cunning action. Where the casters get something really precise with designated effects that don't allow for much to argue about. So any GM who wants to be cautious is going to be very...

    D&D 5E (2014) How many fans want a 5E Warlord?

If all classes were designed around the idea that the right "build" could make them a master at anything, then you might be able to justify some classes being able to master multiple different things each day as they wished. If you don't design that way, and no edition of D&D has ever done that...

    D&D 5E (2014) How many fans want a 5E Warlord?

Though Alexander the Great was in fact famous for fighting on the front line, and nearly died doing it. Inspiring Warlord, rather than Tactical.

    D&D 5E (2014) How many fans want a 5E Warlord?

Tabletop wargamers, perhaps. People whose experience with tabletop games involved playing to win and finding ways to make groups whose individual members have different capabilities into more than the sum of their parts. Now, where was early D&D sold and who was it sold to?

    D&D 5E (2014) How many fans want a 5E Warlord?

I remember the same from playing in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Also, that if we'd rolled stats for a new game and were going off to make characters for when it started next week, declaring that you were making a Fighter was assumed to mean someone who could stand in the front line of the...

D&D 5E (2014) Survivor 5e- What Core Class Needs to Go

Cleric. As we're all aware from the Warlord thread if you can't identify a character that can't be modelled without a particular class, that class doesn't need to exist. And I can't identify any characters that need all the Cleric abilities, so it's obviously superfluous.

    D&D 5E (2014) The Warlord [New Class]

If you have so much liking for "LegacY", then there's a huge amount to complain about apart from the Warlord. So much that any sort of interest in 5e seems quite surprising.
