D&D General Old School DND talks if DND is racist.

No one is disputing that fighting enemy combatants in a recognized war is acceptable in this thread. I hope no one is advocating for mass murder of orc civilians or not accepting that murdering surrendering foes in cold blood is acceptable in any games—seems like war crimes might fall into the...

D&D General Old School DND talks if DND is racist.

Consequentialism would say removing antisemitism, racism, and gender inequality is a net good regardless of specific intentions though. (Not that I subscribe to that philosophical school but to make a point.)

D&D Movie/TV Michelle Rodriguez, Justice Smith Join D&D Movie

Money, fun, fame, glory, nostalgia... Riddick is partially based on his D&D character after all.

D&D General Old School DND talks if DND is racist.

From a strictly self-interested perspective for WotC think of it this way: Hypothesis: People are communicating through various means that the product you sell contains negative stereotypes. Hypothesis: As a company WotC wants a player base that will last and continue to drive revenue through...

    D&D General Graz'zt Petition

Yeah this was a 4e thing that appeared earlier in a Demonomicon of Iggwilv artilce on Graz'zt from 3.5e on Wizards.com when Dragon 360 was published on the website.

    The mandalorian [Spoilers]

Because the show felt like it was becoming reliant on narrative shorthand that required pointing to external sources to appreciate the character, which I thought showed a disturbing lack of faith in the ability of The Mandalorian to stand as its own thing. Every named character introduced this...

    The mandalorian [Spoilers]

Binging the second season after it all aired and it seems more like a bunch of backdoor pilots for the new Disney+ franchises than the first season did. Reminds me a lot of Iron Man 2 where it seems to exist to tie-in properties instead of existing as a thing that can stand on its own. I...

D&D Movie/TV Chris Pine To Star In D&D Movie

If it's anything like the movies John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein wrote like Horrible Bosses, Spider-Man: Homecoming, or Game Night (which they wrote and co-directed) it will definitely be entertaining. Game Night in particular was a lot of fun.

I for one think Chris Pine will make a great Carlos the Dwarf.

Firefly. I blame a friend forcing us to watch Serenity sans context and then trying to watch the series afterwards.

Patterns in gender of AIs that "must be destroyed"

I was thinking of specifically respectful ways to address another PC, but that's a possibility as well if everyone at the table consents.

    Wonder Woman Out Dec 16th

Given the obsolescence of the Paramount Consent Decrees as well I imagine there might be some studios who purchase theater chains to serve as marquee venues for their films on the other end of things as well. Theaters are really in a bind. Indeed, Michael T. Osterholm predicted the impact of a...

Dragonlance Dragonlance's Margaret Weis & Tracy Hickman Are Suing WotC for Breach of Contract

After watching Doctor Sleep recently I think the through-line between maligned sequels seem to be the film lacking the Stanley Kubrick of it all (that and over-explaining).

    D&D and the rising pandemic

I got a flu shot because 1) it is extremely easy to get a flu shot in the US (its free at your local CVS), 2) I'd rather not get sick or get anyone else sick, and 3) the cost of having soreness in my arm for a few hours seems like an easy tradeoff to mitigate that risk. Hell, I got a few snacks...
